The Athlete Edits: Mikey Marohn

Mikey Marohn is one of those few Jackson hole locals who’s actually from Wyoming. The snowboarder left his home of Casper, Wyoming with his sights set on Jackson, hoping to take his snowboarding career to the next level. He couldn't have picked a better spot to call home. Over the last few years, he’s quickly made a name for himself, pumping out all sorts of backcountry edits with legendary locals like Cam Fitzpatrick and Rob Kingwill. However, this past winter was one for the history books. For one, the January snowfall records were shattered this year at his hometown ski hill of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. At one point, you couldn’t keep track of the powder days, because the snowstorms were so nonstop. Then Marohn caught everyone’s attention by throwing a historic double backflip at the Kings and Queens of Corbet’s competition.

Curious about what else he could do, we linked up with Marohn for the Jackson segment of Make Believe. Together with Kai Jones, Tim Durtschi, and many, many other rippers, Marohn found all sorts of kickers to practice his aerial skills. When the crew didn’t feel like skinning, they headed over to JHMR for non-stop lift-serviced pow laps and apres at The Continuum with a couple of refreshing Sierra Nevadas. Doesn’t sound like a shabby way to spend the winter if you ask us.
