Freeride World Tour 2023 Baqueria-Beret Results

The 2023 Freeride World Tour kicked off, albeit a bit delayed, this weekend in the Spanish Pyrenees. After dealing with the postponement of the Kicking Horse stop, athletes gathered in Baqueira Beret, Spain to take on the legendary Backer freeride venue. Conditions were nothing short of stellar, with a few inches of pow on top of a solid base - perfect for fast and stylish riding from everyone who dropped in.

Ski Men:

Max Palm backed up his debut win last year at this venue with another near-perfect display of freeriding with cat-like flips and spins and a few huge airs. Oscar Mandin and Carl Regnér Eriksson finished second and third, respectively, each with mind-blowing runs. Shoutout to rookie Leif Mumma for one of the rowdiest straightlines we’ve seen in years.

Ski Women:

Addison Rafford couldn’t have kicked off her FWT career any better, claiming victory with a fluid run from top to bottom including multiple airs from the start of the judging zone, before sending it deep off a cliff into a tight couloir, linking a few turns into a final air with a grab. Molly Armanino finished second, and Sybille Blanjean third.

Snowboard Men:

Michael Mawn took the win for the second consecutive year with a strong technical line. He threaded the needle at the top of the course, airing into a tight couloir, which threw him out at high speed into the face. Holden Samuels was close in second with 90 points – an impressive feat in his rookie FWT performance – and Ludovic Guillot-Diat rounded off the podium.

Snowboard Women:

Last year’s runner-up Katie Anderson found a playful line, linking multiple airs and grabs with incredible board control, before cruising through the lower powder field with style. Anna Orlova finished in second place, ahead of long-time FWT athlete Erika Vikander in third.

Congratulations to the top four finishers of the 2023 Freeride World Tour in Baqueira-Beret! It is no surprise to see Mathieu Bijasson at the top of the podium, as he has been dominating the sport for years. Following closely in second place was Loris Vergier, proving that he is a force to be reckoned with on the mountain. real estate services La Habra  Third and fourth place went to Tim McChesney and Jacob Wester, respectively, showing their unwavering commitment to the sport. This tour stop is a testament to the dedication and skill of all of the competitors, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.
