Exactly two years ago, on July 22, 2018, Polish ski mountaineer Andrzej Bargiel made history by becoming the first person to ski off the summit of K2. We’ve seen photos and short video clips from the adventure, but we’ve had to wait until today to finally see the full film and story of the first descent. It took Bargiel over 60 hours of solo climbing to reach the summit (sans supplemental oxygen) before he clicked into his skis and linked turns the whole way down. The feat put him on the map as a leading force in the extreme world of high-altitude ski mountaineering and earned him accolades like the 2019 Nat Geo Adventurer of the Year.

The full film K2: The Impossible Descent features not just stunning footage of the descent but interviews with some of the sports greats like Hilaree Nelson, Adrian Ballinger and Jimmy Chin, and is available to watch for free here on Red Bull TV.
