Utter the name Hakuba, and you’ll have a bunch of skiers and snowboarders frothing for tree skiing, hot springs, and fresh powder. But for mountain bikers, the village in the Japanese Alps doesn’t resonate much. That is, until Brandon Semenuk decided to explore the area on two wheels. Last summer, while everyone was prepping for Red Bull Rampage, Semenuk traveled eastwards to dig a new set of jumps at the Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort. From the looks of it, Japow is a year-round thing.
