​VIDEO: ‘What We’re Chasing’ Is An Ode To Adventure Films Past

We get lots of video submissions here at TGR, but once in a while there’s one that stands out from the rest. Last year, Solomon Fragakis (then 15) won a GoPro as part of our annual TGR Grom Comp, and an injury this year gave him plenty of time to explore what it means to be behind the camera. Turns out the kid isn’t just a talented snowboarder, but also has some serious filming and editing chops that came together in the form of a short film chronicling the good vibes of surfing, biking, and climbing in Marin County, California. 

In his words:

“I dislocated my shoulder snowboarding the half pipe at mammoth mountain. As I was driving back home from the hospital I decided I was going to film a short film featuring surfing, biking, and climbing. I spent 3 months filming before and after school. I spent hours at the beach and a lot of time in my local hills. Finally at the beginning of summer break I started editing. Editing this film was a roller coaster of emotions. I delt with constant work loss, teeth grinding computer speeds, and countless computer crashes. After another month I was satisfied to say I finished my first film that I was super stoked on. The goal behind this film was to make people who didn’t participate in action sports understand why some dedicate their lives to them. I learned that why I do these sports is to be truly in the moment.”
