As a general rule of thumb, don't necessarily believe everything you read and see on the Internet. This is the case with a video from Youtube user Kelly Murphy, which shows her being chased by a bear down a mountain. The chances of you cruising down a run, while a massive grizzly chases you without noticing, especially during the heart of winter, seems unlikely.

If I had to weigh in with my opinion, I would say this video is more fake than Donald Trump's tan. Nice try Internet, better luck next time.

It might be completely faked, but this is still why I never wear headphones when riding. I won’t even try to list all of the important things one might not be able to hear when doing so. I once ran a hiring clinic at Copper which equates, of course, to a job interview and two people wore their phones the whole time and managed to miss a number of clearly articulated directives even when sitting beside me on the chairlift. Would they have heard a bear or an out of control person shouting a warning? Nope. Did they get hired even though they wore headphones during their interview? Yes, because I didn’t have the final say. Did they get fired within two weeks? Yes. Are we still friends because they get it? Yes. Keeping one’s ears unobstructed when riding can lead to the most amazing moments!
