Video: Insanely Steep Skiing in Chamonix with Nikolai Schirmer and Friends

Nikolai Schirmer is no slouch when it comes to skiing the steeps, but Chamonix's steeps aren't your average double black diamond. Ropes are mandatory for many lines, and an ill-timed fall could easily spell serious injury or worse. Even expert skiers often hire the region's famed mountain guides to shepherd them through what some consider the world's gnarliest terrain. Luckily for Nikolai, he didn't have to pay for guides, instead enlisting the aid of experienced Chamonix shredders Flo Bastien and Jacob Wester.

Conditions weren't ideal for much of Nikolai's time in Chamonix, but he made it work nonetheless. Props to him for skiing some of the gnarliest lines we've seen go down this year, and even bigger props for putting it on YouTube so we can live vicariously instead of doing it ourselves.
