From Point Break to Inception, directors love to combine the most exciting parts of climbing/skiing/skydiving/etc. with a little bit of movie magic to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. However, the success of Free Solo shows that audiences aren't always looking for unrealistic ridiculousness. Sometimes reality is enough to keep people engaged.
