Yes, these are real. Patagonia photo.
If you've bought a pair of Patagonia's Road to Regenerative™ Stand Up® Shorts recently, then there's a chance you have a cheeky message hidden on the tag. You've likely seen this image circulating on social media, and it turns out it's no photoshopped fake. Patagonia's Public affairs confirmed their sneaky embroidery with a Q&A on the Adventure Journal, stating that you can find the phrase "vote the a**holes out" on a super limited run of the Road to Regenerative™ Stand Up® Shorts.

Founder Yvon Chouinard originally coined the phrase, and it seems to have resonated with the brand's design team, given the tumultuous times. When Chouinard heard about the tag, he even requested a pair in his size. To be clear, Patagonia isn't trying to make a partisan statement. In their eyes, any politician that denies climate change has earned the title of a**hole. The brand hopes that the tag won't be needed in the future, that is if the country comes together to elect climate champions on November 3, 2020.
That reminds us if you haven't made a plan to vote this November, head over to Protect Our Winters to get started.
