Epic Pass's foothold in the Austrian Alps is growing. The latest additions include Sölden, Silvretta Montafon, Mayrhofen, Hintertux, Saalbach, and Kitzsteinhorn—introducing some of Austria’s iconic resorts to Vail’s expanding portfolio.
An Epic pass will grant you 5 days of riding at each destination, consecutive or not. Although there’s a caviot. Some resorts are seemlessly integrated— Mayrhoen + Hintertux and Saalbach + Kitzsteinhorn— meaning your five days are cashed in when you visit either of them.
"Expanding Epic Pass access to include Silvretta Montafon further opens the door to exhilarating mountain experiences in Austria," said Bill Rock, President of Vail Resorts' Mountain Division. "Silvretta Montafon isn't just home to world-class slopes— it's a destination rich in alpine tradition, stunning landscapes and hospitality that's world class."
If you’ve been paying attention to what Vail’s been up to lately, their expansion into European mountains is nothing new. CEO Kirsten Lynch said in 2022, “entering the European ski market has been a long-term strategic priority for Vail Resorts.” Looks like that strategy isn’t going anywhere.
These six resorts join Austria’s Ski Arlberg—already on the Epic Pass—plus other European heavyweights like Switzerland’s Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis and Crans-Montana, where Epic holders have unlimited access.
In total, the Epic Pass now unlocks skiing at 34 European resorts across ten major ski areas, part of a long-term play to give U.S. skiers more access abroad and perhaps to lure european skiers into the U.S. market. Ikon Pass is no different, having recently added Ischgl, Austria as its seventh European destination.
We’ll see what the future holds for American’s skiing in Europe. If you’ve been dreaming of skiing the Alps on a U.S. pass, there’s hardly a better time to start planning.
