    Smith Goggles Lens Issues

Big fan of Smith goggles, been using the squad XLs for years. Had one pair last 3 massive seasons and only had to retire due to the strap being completely stretched out.

Then bought two pairs of new goggles last season (squad XL and Squad Mag) and have had issues with lenses in both goggles. They arrived fine but after a day or two of use the inside gets a "crazing" that is notably visible when wearing. Small little dots cover the entire inside of the lens and are especially visible with a little glare. This happened on two lenses in the mag, I got them warrantied and it is happening to the lens now. It also occurred on one lens in the squad xl. So that is 4 lenses so far and I even had a friend with some I/O mags have the same issue (5 lenses!). It is hard to make out in photos but very notable when wearing.

Im too frustrated to warranty again and hate having to chop up perfectly good frames. Maybe I will try one more and see if this years run does not have the same issue? I take good care of my goggles drying them every night. This seems like major defect on smiths end and im wondering if anyone else has the same issue?

I suggest you warranty again. Complaining here doesn’t do a damn thing.

Rinse with warm water. It worked for me 10 years ago. These aren't Oakleys, you can wash them. I think it's the salt from your sweat evaporating on the lens. Been a warm winter for you?

interesting, hadn't thought about that but would make sense. I'll give it a shot!

Rinse with HOT water. Then place (do not rub or move in any way) good kleenex on lens to absorb water and not leave water marks. But ultimately I’d warranty them. Smith knows this is an issue, it’s in the drop down list of warranty issues. It’s pretty much bs that they can’t figure it out with the prices they charge. Also bs that they charge $15 shipping on brand new faulty product. Their warranty process has gone downhill as has their qc.
