Backcountry ski checklist app

Title kinda sums it up. Here's the link. It's optimized for mobile, so you can scroll through and share your plan easily.

It's free, we don't steal your information, no ads, no plans to monetize. Just a tool we wanted to use, so we made it. Kellen Busby gets all the credit for the web stuff, and making it actually work, I just drew the pictures.

Checklists are proven to saves lives in surgical theaters so why not for backcountry skiing.

I guess I’m always a little surprised how many times folks forget stuff. Keep your backpack appropriately packed and 9 out of 10 times you will have everything. If you need to take your gloves or skins out to dry, keep them near your pack so they go right back in when ready. If you use your helmet to ski inbounds, put it back in your pack when you get home.

I actually have two packs - one is a boot bag for inbounds (boots, helmet, gloves, buff, and some tools) and the other is my BC backpack that always has skins, repair kit, first aid, spare toque, etc. If I bring both to the trailhead I’m almost guaranteed to have everything.

I’m in VT so avy kit is separate but packed in the BC pack before any trips that require it. It would otherwise live in that pack.

This is really good for sure. You either:
1. Have a list
or 2. Have a dialed system where everything always gets stored in the same place, dried in the same place, packed the same way in the same order, and you've been doing it for a long ass while.
If you don't use one of the options above, it's always going to end up being 3. you forget something3.

So down the road we want it to use your location to serve you your local avy center's forecast. But we're a ways out on actually being able to implement that, so unfortunately, for now, northern folks will have to open another tab and check the forecast, sorry!

That's really neat. As someone who backcountry skis just a few times a year, that list is really comforting. I rarely forget things, but I'm always afraid I'm forgetting things.

Skis boots poles
Helmut goggles gloves
Beacon shovel probe

It's so engrained it's almost weird.

But, your idea and contribution is great.
