Faction CT5.0 (2022) Anyone skied them?

    Hi,

Looking for some advice. Faction updated the 5.0 for last year. Candide later announced he was leaving so I guess they didn't pump any money into marketing the ski. I can't see any reviews of it anywhere.

Has anyone skied it? Seems to be a different manufacturer (maybe help with Faction delam issues), core, and a modified updated shape.

I've always fancied a pair and I've found the 183cm at a reasonable price, so tempted to go for them. I'm 170cm and ski the 186 CT3.0 which I LOVE.

Only caveat, I skied a bit last winter but following two winters of being injured (knee) I was pretty restrained.

    Cheers

Haven’t skied them myself but I’m sure they would have a similar feel to older Candide skis.

As you mentioned Faction moved production plants to Fisher in 21 and then to the Amer Sports(Atomic/Salomon) plant in 22. The build quality on Faction skis are much better from either of those 2 plants than previous years.

For 22, the CT 5.0 just got a bit narrower in the tip by 4mm and the turning radius went down a bit(22m in 183cm) but still it’s still very stable at speed I’m sure. Flat rocker/no camber so it pivots very easily when flat but will have a different feel that some love and others don’t.

Here’s a rundown on the 21 version that would be very similar except the tip and radius changes.

Faction CT5.0 (2022) Anyone skied them?

I owned black 183cm CT 5.0 (1st year of new build).....it was one of the best skis I've ever owned. I was mounted 1/2 cm behind Candide's line, so I was at -4.7cm. It skied everything well. Loved it and still regret selling. It ripped groomers to deep pow. Flat rocker made it manuevreable, and the non-tapered tips grip when ski rolled on edge, even on ice. Just sold my Icelantic Nomad 115 (similar dimensions), so I'm hunting another pair of CT 5.0's too.

Here are my black ones (when I had a quiver of 3 just a few years ago - haha). Totally agree that this build was much better than the previous year's CTs.

Saw this Canadian place that had the 22 CT 5.0 183cm in stock at 30% off. Would be similar weight to your old 19/20 CT 5.0 versions but with a 4mm narrower tip and shorter turn radius.

Sierra.com had 2 pairs of the white 21 Fisher plant built 183cm CT 5.0 last month for $499.99 US but sold out now. Those would have been the same specs as the 19/20 but around 100gr heavier.

If that year is the white top sheet, I bought a pair and never really got along with them. Obviously some people do as indicated by KC's post... But I'd consider offloading them.

1 mount for Aatack 2 demo bindings. 183cm.

They look and feel amazing but I just never got dialed on them.
