Anyone get time on the Volkl Bash 86?

I know this os TGR and maybe not the most popular ski around here, but does anyone have any time on this ski and want to share their thoughts?

In my head I'd buy it a little short and use it for moguls and and noodling around.

I'm intrigued by the long running length with almost zero taper and subtle rocker profile and I'm loving my other volkl skis lately.

Which other volkl's skis do you like?

    Blaze 106 and katana 108.

I recognize this is a different design but there are some similarities in the rocker profile and minimal taper.

I haven't skied them but you can find a review on them at SkiEssentials. They liked it in bumps.

Otherwise, you can check the comparison of these skis here. The Bash has a long sidecut radius, which I think would be good in bumps. They don't have too much torsional stiffness either, specially in the tip. So you have a design where the sidecut length is super long, but they have long tip/tail subtle rocker with very soft tip/tail (both bending and torsion). This is probably to prevent them from catching inadvertently, but still making them stable when you edge the ski. Hard to say without skiing them.

They are also almost center mounted. This is very different from the Blaze and Katana. You can also look at the Blaze 86. It is closer to your 106 and is apparently also good in bumps.

I did look at those skis on your site.

Your numbers for torsional and longitudinal flex were interesting to me. In particular it suggested the bash was stiffer under foot, about the same fore and aft, but then quite soft in the tips... like you say.

And I want to believe the specs on your site but the rocker profile that is on the site for the bash 86 doesn't look even close to what you can see from that skiesseitials.com review (which I have seen). Your site makes it lool like there is almost no rise to the rocker, but I can see some on the skiesstials video.

I got some good info on your site I can't find anywhere else, like weights and mount points, but that rocker profile difference has me wondering. I've know other skis to have inconsistencies in how the rocker is pressed, so maybe this happened to the pair you measured? Just spitballing.

I have also considered the blaze 86 but think it might a little too light for pounding moguls.

Yeah, that would be my main concern.

Thanks for mentioning that. I have added more details here about the rocker profile to keep this thread about the skis. Hopefully someone ski them soon.
