Got my dmso (with fennel and tea tree oil in it) yesterday. Added it to the goo and it worked very impressively. This was the morning after a good ski day that tore my shoulder up and I was almost screaming in pain. What impressed me was the realization I had dropped a lot of my simpson oil into the goo, cause I got high instantly and my pain intensity subsided very significantly, pretty much totally disappeared. It was amazing. I could def see doing 1000 mg batches based on this experience instead of the 500 mg I put into what I think was a two pint mason jar. Will be ordering the 100 gr of isolate as soon as this batch starts getting low. Looking forward to all the relief that will bring! Just applied it to my sore shins, quads, and calves this am and got instant relief. I am pretty fukkin stoked.

I used that DMSO 30 years ago and it definitely helped heal a very bad pulled muscle combined with a dislocated shoulder.
Never got used to the cucumber taste. Have not used it in a long time.
Where do you get yours?
The mix I make? Yeah, when I do a big batch, I'll ony put thc in some of it. We're going to be working on the formula and mixing it into a salve, too. Prolly a couple months out. It's the only instantaneous cbd relief I've ever experienced and, with the dmso in it, I feel like I'm getting twice to three times the cbd I've gotten from oils and salves of comparable cbd mg levels. There's nothing close to it on the market that I've seen, especially for sports injuries.
I sometimes use DMSO with my CBD topicals to help get it in deep. Put me on the list Pat, I'd love to give your concoction a try.
Found some bud at the shop called Super Ringo. It's got 21.04% CBD but just 0.87% THC. Don't really smoke much (or at all) anymore but thought I'd give this a try.

Hey KQ, or anybody. My mom is 91 and has sciatica nerve pain. The pain meds she was given don't do much of anything. She's reduced to taking Tylenol with minimal affect.
Any recommendations? The research I've done seems to recommend Tinctures and Capsules. I'm not sure her hands are steady enough to take Tinctures under the tongue. We live in CA.
Thanks,
The end result with stem cells was that they saved my fukking knee. period. I did get injected in my shoulder and it was greatly healed before a fall last January compounded everything I'd injured before and added a new list of shit that's fucked up in it. I'm skiing without any brace on my knee and doing fine but the odd pole plants, usually on steeps, keep my shoulder aching by exacerbating the ligament damage I will soon address with something new called C60 that is supposed to eliminate free radicals and repair ligaments at the same time. But the pain is erased with my cbd concoction now and that makes my biggest obstacle to functioning fully (the pain) one less thing to deal with.
I know you done skied yourself into a similar sitch as I have, powpig. I'll let you know when I get the next batch made and maybe you can stop by and try it.
From a natural healer dude I know. I'm now shopping for a good source. Got one?
Okay.... I found this article:
WILL CBD HELP SCIATICA PAIN? WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
Excerpt:
Limited research has suggested CBD could potentially alleviate both neuropathic and nociceptive pain. ... CBD is a cannabinoid that helps fight inflammation and pain. This is why CBD can help sciatica pain. Currently there's not enough medical research on treating sciatica with cannabis.
The two topical products recommended in the article are made by the person who wrote the article (surprise, surprise) but that doesn't mean they couldn't be wonderful. I'm in Washington so anything I'm personally familiar with that I might recommend is unavailable to you in CA ( <roll eyes> This really needs to be worked out).
This article lists several products available in CA (I know it says exercise but I think these products are more universal than just over exertion soreness) :

I also found this article:
How to Use CBD Oil for Sciatica
Lots of good info in the article with product recs - here's an excerpt:
Sciatica and CBD: Treating Mixed Pain
One of the things that makes pain from sciatica so difficult to treat is that it is often a combination of two different kinds of pain, nociceptive and neuropathic.
Nociceptive pain is caused when nerves are reacting to tissue damage, sending signals to the central nervous system that something is wrong. Neuropathic pain is when the nerves themselves are damaged, usually through disfunction, damage, or compression.
The first line of treatment for sciatica is often NSAIDs, a class of drugs that reduces inflammation. Unfortunately, they are widely known to only reduce nociceptive pain. Neuropathic pain, on the other hand, is often treated with antidepressants and anticonvulsants.
Both classes of drugs have significant side effects, particularly when used over the long term to treat chronic pain. These can include increased risk of heart attack, liver damage, ulcers, and other significant negative health outcomes.
CBD, on the other hand, has few known side effects, and there is scientific research that supports its ability to alleviate both neuropathic and nociceptive pain, as well as reduce inflammation.
It does this by working with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a series of receptors that work with the central nervous system to regulate a large number of natural processes including pain, skin health, and digestion to name just a few.
However, I want to emphasize that the research is still in the early stages, and the role of other cannabinoids such as THC in the modulation of pain remains an active area of study. And, although the endocannabinoid system is clearly implicated as one factor in the modulation of pain in the body, CBD may work best in combination with traditional medications.
In addition, sometimes a surgical option is the recommended course of treatment for some kinds of sciatic pain, potentially preventing further degeneration. That is why working with a doctor to develop the best overall pain management plan for you is the first thing to do if you are experiencing pain from sciatica.
As I've mentioned before my mother (88) and my GF's mother (90) both use topical CBD/THC for body aches. At that age what do they have to lose? I did go through my mother's meds and do the best I could to check for reactions with CBD/THC even though she was only using a topical. I would love to have her take a tincture for the mood enhancing qualities but I had some reservations about her blood pressure medication so we didn't go there. It may be fine but because we don't have research it's hard to know definitively.
My concern with the BP med was that the CBD would react on it like grapefruit juice does - the drug is metabolized and made useful to the body in the liver and grapefruit juice prevents that process from happening. Now granted I think you have to take the pill with grapefruit juice to have this happen but still it was enough of a concern that I decided not to mess with it. I based this decision on some article I read - didn't just pull the idea out of my ass.

Recently tried some hemp-derived cbd oil for our 11 yo dog with anxiety issues. It’s been great, but not cost effective in the volume I’ve been able to find in town. Although the peanut butter flavor is nice. Any suggestions for mail order?
Regardless of how bad the pain gets- don’t try this!

What is the main advantage of hemp derived CBD over regular CBD from Mary Jane?
I've had people (cannabis store owners) tell me that there is a big difference - he said you might as well take turmeric. I started with hemp derived CBD and had positive results and took what he said with a grain of salt. That said there is def. something to the entourage effect.
Here are a number of articles on the subject:
This first article has detailed info:
Hemp CBD Oil vs. Weed CBD Oil: How Are They Different?
How Are Cannabis CBD Oil and Hemp CBD Oil Different?
What’s the difference between marijuana CBD and hemp CBD?
From the above article (third I linked):
It is the distinction between CBD derived from marijuana and CBD from hemp oil that sets them apart. Marijuana is harvested for its buds, which contains psychoactive properties known to produce stoned effects. When it comes to hemp, the stalks and seed are the targets of this crop. These plants do not contain enough THC to get anyone high. In fact, for cannabis to be considered hemp, it must have no more than 0.3 percent THC.
Although CBD oil and hemp oil are both low in THC, the difference in the amount of CBD these products contain is huge. Hemp oil has only traces of CBD (around 3.5 percent,) while CBD oil can have up to 20 percent. It is the higher concentration that makes CBD beneficial in the treatment of various health disorders. Hemp oil based CBD products do not contain enough of the compound to be considered much more than a health supplement. These are the products found in health food stores all over the country – legal in all 50 states.
Just think of hemp oil-based CBD as a vitamin (high in Potassium and Magnesium) and the bud-based products to be pharmaceutical grade.
