I know this was a bit tongue in cheek, but why wouldn’t you be more vocal in the vegan community if you thought a fundamental tenet of their beliefs wasn’t tenable? Vegans strike me a bit like a cult and any departure from their platform leads to some serious ire. A bit like cop culture. Speak out against the group and “you’re not one of us.” More people would be willing to understand both these cultures if the members embraced some common sense middle ground.

How do you square this with being Pro Choice?

Just like all communities many different vegans have different opinions. The ten percent that is the loudest don't necessarily speak for all of us. I tend to be more loose than most, but again that's because my commitment is to reduce harm.

Example, at a retreat many years ago the caterer messed up and brought us a dish with chicken in it. Damage already done. Throwing it away won't help reduce harm to any beings. Eat it up.

I've never said I'm not anti abortion, but that's a different thread for polass

You've got a twisted sense of humor.

    I can chuckle at that.

Wild sheep only grow as much wool as they need to stay warm.

Sheep that are bred for the purpose of shearing they're wool are very intelligent and caring animals. They are treated extremely poorly, especially in Australia, which is where 75% of the world's wool originates.

Stop using wool, demand for wool goes down, and less animals are bred, less animals bred, less animals are abused.

The article cites an infant sheep mortality rate that is less than global human infant mortality rate.

I guess you don't own a down jacket. I buy only vintage wool from thrift stores and those sheep are already dead from old age so it's ok.

I can tell that you've never spent any time around sheep. Sheep aren't intelligent. They are about the stupidest animals around. They are not kind or caring either. Don't anthropomorphize the sheep. One look into their vacant oval eyes betrays their lack of intellect and emotions.

Also sheep in Australia are basically free range animals out on the huge stations down under. They are gathered up for shearing, breading and lambing. The rest of the time the sheep graze in the outback.

I normally just avoid DBS treads because they are just chuck full of stupid. Somehow I got sucked into this gem hoping to find some snarky comments that'd make me chuckle but all I've found in this one is him espousing us with his typical sheep shit.

I guess I need to start doing this.

I just got received a wool shirt I bought online from Woolrich.
Just trying it on I noticed several stitches on one of the collars is coming undone and one of the buttons just fell off.
Woolrich is now Chinese made fucking dog shit.

    Lots of ignorance around sheep.

Humans do a great job of rationalizing their behaviour. One of the ways we rationalize eating animals is by convincing ourselves that they are stupid.

    My pancakes are the bomb.

Apple sauce is an incredible egg replacement in pancakes and most sweet baked goods.

Next time you make pancakes replace each egg with 1/4-1/2 cup of applesauce. More applesauce makes it fluffier, but too much and you lose some of the binding characteristics. I think you'll be surprised.
