Oh sure, I have no doubt about the ability of high end car nuts, it just seems all performative on these sites anymore. Like the same 12 guys just tossing out insanely high opening bids and then relisting the thing a month later.

ETA: the LC above just went for $38k. Ufda.

Carsandbids is trending that way too. There’s an incredible Montreal Blue Ferrari 812 on there right now and the opening bid was like $450k. Who is sitting around clicking on shit going, “yeah, let me just toss out an offer of like half a mil and get this auction started”!?!
    BAT is a $99 listing and a 5% buyer’s premium.

    Bonham’s is a “negotiable” seller’s premium and a 12% buyer’s premium.

    Barrett-Jackson is an entry fee + 8% seller + 10% buyer.

someone here (ardr?) had claimed bat had poor completion rate.

edit: also in many narrow markets a group of people get an irrational burnin their ass for something then the market collapses

Long ago I had kicked around the idea of a Fiero as a 24hr of Lemons car but saw all the work this guy did and the roll cage cost.

I would love to have an 87 Fiero GT 5 speed in my driveway. At some point I will, just because.

If I were looking to pick up an old mid-engine 4-cyl car, I think I’d make it an MR-2.

Edit: typed that and then immediately thought ‘wait, did the GT have a V-6?’, and yep.

But I’d still go for and MR-2.

A tuned MR-2 would be fun. Supposedly there's some problem with understeer you might want to address.

Now that is something I actually have the professional experience to address.

I’d be happy to demonstrate if someone wants to fully fund this endeavor.

Unfortunately for us he's now selling high end golf carts at the Villages. Would she be interested in this?

Scissor doors on a golf cart. I've seen it all now.

Kind of reminds me of a recent trip to Naples. We were hanging out at a bar by the water watching boats come in and there were all kinds of high end cars parked along the street opposite the bar. This old dude would put down his cigarette (I've found where all the people still smoke btw, Florida) and walk over to his orange Maclaren with someone he had just met at the bar to show it to them.

It was a solid 5 minute operation watching this guy open the door and unfolding-lawnchair himself down into the seat. He'd take a lap around the block and do it all over again in 20 minutes or so. He looked to be every bit of 75 years old and dressed as if the "Salt Life" sticker people had a clothing boutique. Naples is a fucking weird ass place.

Wow. Just wow. End times and all that. Is that in Naples? Or just Florida in general? Has to be.

Damn, that's almost as LIT as this tricked out 20y/o Corolla I saw this week. All the style and swagger of an autobauhn cruiser or Neuspeed parking lot queen, but with the Nickelodeon-slime-spray-paint to push your lust over the edge. And don't get too heavy on that exhaust; RS4 level notes for sure.

One can only imagine how badass that thing will be once he gets his next five paychecks and drops them on a matching, non-functional exhaust for the other side.

I wonder how many people have pissed down that? Seems like that would invite such shenanigans.
