Old fashioned ski boot bags? gear in the middle, 1 boot on each end???

I am having the hardest time finding these on the interwebs

    Searched several retailers, googled, etc.
Searched the website of every major ski company

Mine is an old Nordica bag. One boot on each end, pants, fleece, helmet, jacket etc in the middle.
20 years old and falling apart

Anyone seen these made anymore? What happened to them.
Do I really have to have one bag for boots and one bag for clothing?

Nah, Transpack ruined what I want. Transpack is good for carrying to the hill once you have your jammies and pants on.

I cannot find a larger ski boot and gear bag - the one I have is a self contained ski travel bag that can last me a week of skiing out of one bag.

I found this one by High Sierra (usually crappy company from my past experience)

that looks like what I have and what I am trying to find a new version of

but the side pockets with the boots zip off and on, which I dont want and I know will break in short order.

Just old school gear and boot bag with the muddy boots on each side and all my clothes in the middle.
It must be out there somewhere. I have been searching for two hours. Help me please if you have seen something like this for sale

Problems with them is the boots are typically the heaviest of the items you carry. Then the bottom of the bag has to be really stiff. The better design is the boots sitting flat along the bottom of the bag with a separate top compartment that can hold the clothes, helmet etc. Over Under bag is one name for this style. Heavy items (boots are on the bottom)

Or the Transpack or similar that do not have quite as big of center pocket.

Swix and REI each have a similar looking bag, not sure if the end pockets are big enough for ski boots or not. Google image "ski gear bag" Some of these bags are now more for snowboarders with their lower, softer boots too.

DAKINE makes one like this. It's the best boot/gear bag I have ever owned.

I have the old one from PM Gear that is built like that. It's more of a travel bag than a bag for going to the hill - it's huge.

Curious, will the airlines accept those as a single boot bag . . . some of them are getting tough, especially to yurp!! They'll charge you extra for having clothes in a boot/ski bag!!

Ski bag/boot bag used to be one charge. I had clothes in the ski bag and in the boot bag. Now Delta/United have both pushed me and buddies on this and charged for two bags instead of one. Now I just pack everything in a double ski bag and keep it right at 50lbs. Carry the boots onto the plane via the booster straps velcro'd together and thrown over my shoulder.

A bag is a bag, it's all about the weight and dimensions.

I still have a Salomon boot bag that houses boots on both ends, gear in the middle. Love the functionality. Looking thru various ski/boot company pages, it appears that the majority are the wedge version now. I can't imagine fitting more than boots and helmet in one of those. Bummer....

I know exactly for which you search and I own one. I bought it secondhand many years ago and it does exactly what you describe and more. Unfortunately the company that makes them doesn't produce them at this time in spite of my prodding. Mine is BEAT and needs to be replaced. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if they'd make the goddam thing.

It really is the perfect bag for this in the XL size. Maybe a group buy would get them moving? Bottom and sides are burly tarp-like material. Both boots go in the one end which is lined with said burly material in collapsible form, and heavy duty mesh on the exterior of the boot pocket.

The big one is a little large for carrying on a flight, and airlines have refused to call it a 'boot bag' for me every time. IMO, this is even more convenient than a boot on each end since the other end is perfect for goggles hats, gloves etc. I use mine for going to the hill as well as airline travel.

    Nope. Already been there.

Big Mudder = their bag I thought was the solution. But the side pockets are not meant for boots.

THIS - you know what I mean! Every boot/gear bag used to be like this. But they vanished?
It is so useful - how did it die out?

Sundog company sounds interesting, but it says they have a collapsible wet/dry divider. The things that used to exist are fixed boot sized compartments on each end.

As for flying, I used to pass this off as a boot bag for years. Then when they started a few years ago cracking down, they said both boot and ski bag had to be under 50 pounds, which is unpossible with 2 pair skis and fullyloaded bag.

I tend not to fly with it as much. Super packed double ski bag holds a lot of gear, skiing backpack holds boots for carryon.

Maybe that is why this thing is extinct - it no longer works with the airlines. But I really love using it as a weekend travel bag.

    Its a Bug-Out-Bag for skiing.
A dedicated bag with bibs, jacket, socks, baselayer, goggles (and a spare), helmet, gloves (and a spare), etc. and boots.
If I go skiing I grab the bag and my skis and I know I have all my gear already.
In the off season, all my gear is right there in one spot.

    I did find this item.

scroll down to item 650 boot bag. they also have a version with wheels and a handle.

Sundog collapsible boot compartment is actually better than one on each end IMHO. The collapsible thing is the perfect size and shape for two ski boots with their toes pointed toward the inside of the bag. I've had both, and still have several 'one-on-each-enders' and this is the shit.

What the airlines keep telling me when I try to call it a boot bag is that their definition of a boot bag contains nothing nor is it possible to except for boots.

I'd probably buy one of those wheeled ones you linked but they don't seem to be available either.

Just found this one, old school with the boots seperated in a basement at the bottom. I had one of this style in the 80s, worked well.

Try looking for a motocross gear bag, they are the same style as the old boot bags, and have separate boot compartments on each end. I picked up a Shift brand bag last year for about $120 Canadian at my local bike shop

there are lots of this style out there. boots in the bottom seems fussy for a daily driver gear bag. for actual travel seems fine.

ebags.com has an assortment, including a High Sierra, Swix, and Athalon (non-heated) which may meet these criteria.

I was limiting my search to ski boot bags only. Will def. check out the local hockey shop and see what they have.
As long as the end pockets are big enough to hold ski boots, I care not what logo or original intended use.
