    Dynafit Radical 2.0

Since Dynafit rereleased the Radical 2.0 mid season for the ST 90mm Anniversary I think they need their own thread

Picked up a golden box yesterday - unboxed in all it's glory:

...now I just need a template somehow - or make my own.

And I am curious on how the heel is set up. Does it need a gap - and how big? Or are they set up like the Beast with just a paperstrip?

A quick response from Dynafit! They are indeed set up like the Beast heel with a paperstrip

Weird they ship with a rubber band instead of, you know, turning the heal 90*.

There's definitely a Radical 2.0 template on wildsnow.com. I used it for my Beast 14 toes and it worked well.

EDIT: found it: https://www.wildsnow.com/backcountry...cal-2-2015.pdf or with their instructions here: https://www.wildsnow.com/articles/dy...nt_2001_1.html

They ship with screws inserted in the binding so brake plate cannot be pushed down and locked by turning. Of course a small zip-lock bag with screws would solve that...

Note that if you're mounting with inserts you should drill the heel holes at +5mm to ensure that when the binding is correctly adjusted to length the screw heads are still accessible otherwise every time you remove the heel you'll have to reset the length which is a pain.

The same applies for the Radical, Beast 14 & Beast 16 as well - it's a quirk on all the Dynafit mounting jigs.

Nothing to add except the gold looks baller on those Ravens. Been happy with my Radical ST's mounted on Hoji's so far this season (first tech setup).

Ok so i got to fondle a pair of the Rad 2.0's at the extreme everest challenge and it looks to me like Dynafit has addressed the load problem that pulls the top plate off of a Radical binding

the top plate now slides onto the heel piece from pin side (front to rear ) while engaging with lugs in the plastic heel housing, they use the same 4 screws in the top plate but on the 2.0 those screws only locate the top plate ... thumbs up Dynafit

Jon, is this true of older (vertical) dynafit models as well? Always wondered how I could avoid always having to readjust.

So, the Radical 2 ST 105mm are on sale (essentially pre-order) on Snowinn for ~$430 shipped to the US. Telemark-Pyrenees has Beast 14 105mm for ~$405 shipped. I've been lusting after the Radical 2 toepiece for a while (after torquing my knee a bit a couple seasons ago on a low speed fall) in Radical 1.0 STs (unlocked).

Someone recommend me one way or another on the Radical 2s or Beast 14s, and whether I should get the 105mm or 120mm width. Skis are Praxis UL BC 180s, Lotus 138 Pure 192s (would always use the Speed Radical heel), and am lusting after some UL GPO 182s. What I'm thinking of doing is drilling all my skis for the Radical 2 toe, then drilling the heel for a Speed Radical for longer touring days and the Radical 2/Beast 14 for touring on crappier snow or resort skiing. I'm not a big guy, 150 lbs, but am fairly strong. On one hand, the ramp angle on the Radical 2 is better than the Beast 14, and the DIN14 is totally unnecessary, but on the other hand, having a totally bomber tech heel with flex would be awesome for resort days.

Isn't that the big change with the radical 2.0, it has a flexing heel piece so to me unless you need 12+ "din" setting then the radical is all you need. If I'm wrong please correct

It certainly seems like a nice design with improvements that address issues some people were having. And the anniversary edition... my oh my.

Sport Conrad has em listed now as well, albeit with a 2-3 week order time.

You're right, I forgot about the "10mm forward pressure/flex". Radical 2.0 it is. Now the question is 105mm and bend out, or 120mm for skis I don't own (yet).

I seem to recall on the Beast thread that the 120 brakes fit 100-130+ underfoot. I assume it's the same for the Rad 2.0.
    sproing!
