Anyone have any plans/blueprints for a home bar? Looking to build an L-shaped bar in my house and while I'm good with tools and building shit I'm not so great with coming up with designs & plans on my own.

No plans to give you, but make sure you get the height right. Bar stools come in a couple of heights, and getting different heights is difficult. The tards that built my house made the bar too high, so I'm having a hell of a time finding appropriately sized stools that don't cost an arm and a leg.

toast: Have you checked overstock? Pretty good deals, big selection, and free shipping.
It's an L shaped bar- what plans are needed. Measure the size and space you want it to take up, figure the height (standing around and stools probably on one side. Figure a budget you have in mind (materials decisions will help- especially for the top and fancy options like if it has a sink under it to wash glasses, etc.) and then go at it. Figure you want a few shelves (at least 1 shelf) under it. Build a 2x4 frame for it (and if you want to be fancy do the cut on the joint for the L at 45 degree) and put some sort of rail along the bottom for foot rest.
I highly suggest you check out barplan.com. Its a great site for building bars with many different complete designs and plans for making bars. There are also hundreds of photos of members bars so you can get ideas of what you want to do with your bar. The building instructions are simple enough for pretty much anyone to build a bar, and if your a even a little handy you can make any changes you want. It does cost money to join, i think its 20 bucks for a lifetime membership. I used to build my bar and it was well worth the money.

I've added a homemade kegerator and tap since I took that pic.
HomeBrewTalk.com in the DIY section. If you can't find inspiration in there, you got no business building a bar...
Buy the stools you want, figure out your ideal arm/resting height - build accordingly.

Get two saw horses and a plank (note: to make an L add another sea horse and plank.) Set plank(s) on saw horses, set bottles of fine scotch on planks, open and enjoy. Simple really.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot
Rounded corners. no right angles anywhere that someone or something could run into.
Trust me on this. From kids to neighbors acting like kids. Cuts way down on the damage if everything has well rounded edges

I am watching this thread as I am planning on building a bar in my mancave/garage. TR to follow. Maple bartop and plywood panels with 2 taps is what I'm shootin for.
If the shocker don't rock her, then Dr. Spock her. Dad.
Don't forget the keggerator. Most important part.

By the way - If you're building or setting up a kegerator, don't plan on getting full size kegs all the time, as they hold 180 beers and take a long time to drain. If you enjoy variety, better to get quarter barrels or multiple pony kegs. Also means you flush the lines more often, as the biggest detriment to a home bar is the fact the lines will mold up if not used very often.
