Sizing down boots and how it will affect existing ski mounts

Pretty self-explanatory title. I am thinking of sizing down my Lange RX130 pros one shell size and I'm concerned that this will screw up my skis that have already been mounted for the longer BSL making them too far forward when I move to the smaller shell. Normally I wouldn't be too worried about 1cm but most of my skis are mounted pretty far forward (personal pref) so 1cm could maybe make a difference.

Hoping someone else has done this and can shed some light on how the smaller shell affected how your quiver skied.

My foot is still my foot regardless of the boot so maybe it's a non-issue?

I wouldn't worry about it. Sizing down a shell size typically moves foot center less than 1cm forward, and especially if you're in the right shell and your heel is seated where it should be in the boot.

What are the skis and where are they mounted?

I messed around with the same issue last spring. Going down 10 mm BSL will only move the boot centre line 5mm forward. Think of it like you are taking 5 mm off each end of the boot. Hopefully your bindings can accomodate the change without a remount.

Since we're splitting the proverbial hair here, you could just cut 0.5cm off the tails and you would be good to go, I think.

This is correct, but if I understand the OP's question, he wants to know
    1. how that change will affect how the ski performs, and
    2. will his binding make this adjustment.

    Answers are:
    1. yeah, a little. If you are really tuned into the ski you will notice. But a boot that fits will make a much bigger difference.
    2. Depends on the binding (adjustment range) and how it was originally mounted. Move it all the way forward and check the forward pressure. If you are good, then ski them. If you like how they ski, you are done. If not, then remount them.

The ones I am most concerned with are my 192 Rocker2s I think I mounted them 5mm in front of the +4 line on the ski, which is still behind the "progressive mark". I also have some Czars mounted on the forward line, with those I have large Dukes on them so I'm more concerned about the 305 bsl being able to fit the large Duke (which it should, on the absolute lowest end of the spectrum, if the Marker spec sheet is to be believed)

I will have both the new and old pairs in hand before I return the old ones, so I can make sure it all works. I don't think I will have to re-mount the rocker2s as it looks like I have plenty of heel track left (how much give/take do Jesters have on the heel track before you'd have to remount? I gotta believe it's more than 1 boot size)

    You will notice a 0.26% difference on a 192.

AKA, you will not notice it.

I'm pretty sure the Jesters will be good to go, I've moved bindings out (not Markers, mind you) 2cm with no issues. And I'm pretty sure I've moved Rossi's in 3 cm as well... not sure what my mom's BSL is. If Marker says the Dukes are game, then they are. You can probably go further in than they say without worries.

This. A properly sized boot is much much more important than a few mm fore/aft on the ski. Don't even think about it.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease bros. If it wasn't September I'd ski it and see the difference for myself but alas, there is no snow.

And yes I'm very stoked to finally get the proper shell fit, and now I have something productive to do (break in the boots) during the early season conditions.
