U.S. issues recall for many Atomic bindings produced since Amer acquired it.

Atomic has issued a giant recall of its bindings. Dating back to (wait for it) the year its owner Amer decided Atomic should market bindings. You know Amer, our friend who sent Salomon into the field of quality AT boot production...

You know, you can't just go around and shoot people in the kneecaps with a double-barreled shotgun 'cause you pissed at 'em.

The old Race and Xentrix (1018 excluded) have always been shit. I had a friend who raced with 614s with DIN cranked and could not make it down the course without a pre-release. This is not news. In fact, the acquisition by Amer has allowed Atomic to ditch their own shit line of bindings and use rebadged Salomons, which IMO is a really good thing.

Uh, yeah, except that Amer took over Atomic in 1994, shaped development of binding line in 1998, which was still Ess. Amer/Atomic was not in control of Salomon until 2005. Neox first year was 05-06. So between 1994 and 2005, Amer was having Atomic continue to use Ess.

    I had some ess-vars on my PRE-1600SPs

My skinny, cross-country running ass broke the shit out of them. Thats when I found Markers, bomb-proof.

Yeah, I realize. But a) the timeline with Amer interested me, given the Quest, and b) curious how many 614's are still out there, seems like a lot.

And they all should be since they were not affected by the recall... jeez.

Description: The recall affects the heel components of the following Atomic alpine ski bindings: Race 310, Race 412, RaceRace 310, RaceRace 412, Xentrix 310, Xentrix 311, Xentrix 412, C310, C311, C412, CR 310, CR 412, R 310, R 412, SX 310, SX 412, Device 311, Device 412, Centro 310, Centro 412, and Dynamic ADX 312, RD10, X412, Centro 412. The recall includes only those bindings manufactured from 1998 through 2002 The year of manufacture can be located on the underside of the heel lever.
Amer owned Atomic first (1994) they didn't purchase Salomon until 2005. Nothing personal but this is a stupid thread.

Thats an atomic Neox, not affected by recall.

As far as I know Salomon racers use the Driver series.

true that the neox and 614 weren't affected by the recall...directly.

edit: I may be an idiot.

X-series is basically a green-spring NEOX with more metal and higher DIN; salomon racers (read: Slovenians) have been on it for two or three years now instead of drivers, skiing re-badged atomic doubledecks with salomon logos. Pretty sad that Salomon racing in the states is non-existent, and in Euroland its basically Atomic B-Team. At least they brought back the 916.

I raced with the 614's cranked to 14 and had a really really hard time keeping them on my feet. Then I had the heel split in half mid-way down the pitch at Dartmouth and almost went over the cliffs...
