TGR's FREESTYLE MOTOCROSS SERIES “THE GREAT RIDE OPEN” ON FUEL TV

LOS ANGELES, CA – FUEL TV, the action sports lifestyle network, premieres its newest original series, “The Great Ride Open” on November 18, 2007 at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT. The six episode series brings viewers along on a 2,000-mile road trip with four top freestyle motocross riders including FMX legend and 2007 X Games gold medalist Ronnie Renner, nine-time X Games medalist Tommy Clowers, 2004 WFA overall winner Drake McElroy, and two-time X Games Step-Up gold medalist Matt Buyten. Watch them caravan through America’s Southwest searching for untracked terrain and dominating renowned riding areas.

The Great Ride Open

Shot entirely on film and in HD by acclaimed filmmakers Teton Gravity Research for FUEL TV, the stunning cinematography of “The Great Ride Open” captures everything from breathtaking natural landscapes to insane aerials.

“This was a once-in-a-lifetime event where everything came together,” says Shon Tomlin, FUEL TV’s VP of Programming and Development. “We had four of the world’s greatest riders, 12 days of perfect weather and the best production crew in the business capturing a piece of FMX history. ‘The Great Ride Open’ captures a part of FMX that’s been overshadowed by the recent explosion of indoor ramp-to-ramp contests and arena demos. Watch one episode and you’re sucked in, and when it’s all over you want to get on a bike and ride.”

“The Great Ride Open” takes these riders out of the competition circuit and back to the roots of the sport – freeriding. Starting in San Diego, the crew heads east to the Imperial Valley to hit the celebrated dunes of Glamis, Octillo Wells, and Superstition in the first two episodes. After sessioning these legendary locations, the pack heads east into untapped and unexplored domain. Traveling through Utah, the riders constantly push each other to the limit. The trip concludes in Caneville, Utah, which many claim to be the North Shore of motocross’ natural terrain.

“We all have our own style and we all bring our own style to each hit,” asserts Matt Buyten in the first episode of the series. “That’s what I think made this a great week, a great trip.”

Since 1996, TGR has produced 22 internationally acclaimed feature length films and original episodic TV programs. TGR previously produced the “Untracked” snowboarding series for FUEL TV. They chronicle and influence the progressive and creatively driven culture that continuously reinvents action sports.
