I've always thought it was ridiculous to have to have more than one boot. Freerides were one way to solve the problem, this is another. I dig it.

The alpine boot manus need to just start making their molds out to lighterweight plasic with rockered vibram, cuff release, and a super warm liner. What's the problem?

Holy Interchangeable sole plates, Batman!! They look Facking SCHWEEET! When I scanned the Garmont site I didn't see them on there. So I'm guessing that there not on the market just yet, but I can't wait to get my hands on a pair.

Not here, not in europe.
It will be for next season only!

Looks great, but why would they let the cat out of the bag?? Why let Scarpa, Crispi and Dynafit do the same thing?

inside that I got over a month ago is that he had EVERYTHING to do with them. As of then, he's got the only pair and had been testing them. Hell, all I wanted was some stiffer tongues to put on my G-Rides and they didn't have any made yet - but will for next year and they will fit the G-Rides so I may just keep the Rides and put the Adrenalin tongue on them. My contact at Garmont said it would ad 15% stiffness to the Rides. Course there are some other bells and whistles on the Adrenalin that look sweet (i.e. different walk to ski mode lever; the one on the Ride keeps popping up unexpectadly on all but groomers).

I just got a hold of a pair of these today. Good and bad.

They are lighter than I expected for sure. All the talk made these sound like they were gonna be tanks. Not so. Denali range weight. Not even close to alpine weight.
Saving some of that weight had to come from somewhere. My conclusion is shell thickness. These boots were way softer than I expected (given I was inside, but, I still expected more resistence). Forward flexing really flexed the lower cuff outward. Hopefully these will stiffen up considerable in colder temps.
The flex tongue does the shin justice as usual.
Well, that's my .02 until Tues or Thurs at Sugarbush when I actually get to test pilot these. I'll definitely update then.

Word on the street in Cham is no availability until into next season and not worth the wait...no stiffer than denali XT's no where near the promised Freeride boot so many are looking for

Hey Trainnvain, please post more feedback when you get to ski these.
If you have any influence with Garmont let them know we all want it stiff as hell.
There are already plenty of soft and light compromise boots, but there are no ultra-stiff rando boots.
One thing I have found with the G Ride is that it needs to be tightly buckled before it stiffens up, but it is still way too soft. A much stiffer tongue would help, but I would like to see more stiffness in the shell pastic also.

The buyer market for rando hiking boots is relatively limited, but if somone will produce an alpine stiff boot that is lighter weight and has a walk lever, they can sell them to the masses of alpine skiers who want comfort and convenience. Think of all those touron dorks who stand around apres-ski (and ride the bus) in their alpine boots! If only they could buy a stiff boot with a walk lever and a vibram sole they wouldn't be such a hazard to all of us.

stiff is not nessecerly what you need. i think that softer boot with a nice progressive flex is good. where you want stiffness its tortionally... these touring boots don't have any of the 2

Yup, Coombs is the man (or at least one of them) behind the Adrenalins. The funny thing is that two lifties and an old ski-bum here in La Grave actually got their pairs before he did. According to one of them the boot is comparable to his Salomon X-Wave 10 when it comes to stiffness and overall feeling, I don't know if that's a proper judgment or just a case of excitement over his brand new boots but they seem solid enough. I've also seen these boots perform flawlessly while ski boot-dancing to some blugrass-honky-tonk-blues-country-Irish-French traditional-hillbilly-rock'n'roll concert so i guess the walk mode and Vibram sole work good enough .

My first thought when I saw these was why some company can't take a proper freeride boot and add a walk mode and interchangable Vibrams instead of stiffening up a touring boot like Scarpa and Garmont have been doing with the Denali XT's, G-Rides and now the Adrenalins. The misunderstanding seem to be that a boot like that will mostly be used for touring instead of overall big mountain skiing. Example: some days ago I skied a run which started out with Mach5 powder turns on a wide open glacier, continued in an exposed chute with ice underneath 10cm of fresh followed by a 40 meter rappel, next up was a 35-40 degree couloir with variable snow conditions and to round it all of the lack of snow at the bottom made us hike out through a debris of big, sharp rocks. No, I wasn't touring but I still would have appreciated a walk mode and some Vibrams to keep me from slipping while hiking and rappeling. At the same time there's no way I would have wanted to trade the performance of my alpine boots on the skiing sections of the run for a touring boot with the desired features. I bump into Coombs a couple of times a week and I rarely catch him wearing his Adrenalins, most of the time he's on a pair of Tecnicas fitted with Vibrams. Don't know the deal but if the Adrenalin was all the buzz Garmont claims it to be then why wouldn't he be skiing them all the time?

I saw something about a Dalbello freeride boot with a walk mode and some kind of rubber sole, looked pretty interesting but nothing I would spend my money on though. But bring me a Lange 120 FR with those features and I'd be drooling all over
