    Francophiles....

    "effectivement castor pas mal dutout"

I get "indeed beaver not badly dutout" as a Google translation.

Anyone able to make better sense of it than that?

indeed beaver not badly of the whole

    ?
    du tout is two words.
    That makes no sense though.
French can not be exactly translated. It could be something like:
indeed, not badly, the whole beaver.
    still no sense.
    Wrecker of dreams.

it's probably "pas mal du tout" which would be not bad at all. Can't remember the rest. Let me find my dictionary.

ok, google has one of the meanings of effectivement which threw me. The more readily apparent one is...get ready...effectively. A franglais word.

    So...

"Effectivement castor pas mal du tout"

"Effectively, beaver is not bad at all."

    Translates pretty directly.

edit: can also translate to indeed/in fact.

Is that a translation or interpretation?

"Not bad at all" would make sense in light of the context from which it was plucked. "Beaver" doesn't. Oh well. Thanks.

Plucked (or waxed for that matter) beaver is rather tasty too.

heh. didn't realize that castor was being used as the name of someone. I'm still standing by beaver not being bad at all.

That doesn't really make sense, I think. BTW Castor is someone on skipass and posts here as supercastor. Has it got something to do with him?

In that case it means "not bad at all, Castor"...

    Aspect goes global.

If you think there are a lot of maggots then check out skipass. 11,000 subscribers on the forum. Mainstream but still kind of cool in a geeky way.

"Effectivement" in that sentence means "indeed." So there you go:

castor: [Aspect journal] Nice writings, really, with a motto that makes one dream: "lines to ski, stories to tell." Here you go, just because I like it.

    [...]

broikan: Not bad at all indeed, castor.
