Crampon Question
I have some older Grivel G12 crampons like this:
Can I use these with a boot like a Scarpa Tornado? Or do a need a crampon with the bail on the toe too?Last edited by bossass; 04-08-2007 at 02:48 PM.

yup I've managed to get the same strap-type setup into alpine boots, Dynafit TLT 700's and F1's with no problems
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

I use attachments like those for my sabretooths(courtesy SAC over the summer) on my denalis and have no problems. In fact, they stay on more snuggly than my crampons with a toe bail/wire which I found surprising. Only downside is they are a little harder to put on getting the straps on correctly, but its no big deal.

Bingo... You need to tweak the front-bails on step-in cramps to fit yer boots. The semi step-in system Bossas has, is a lot more forgiving and most of the time more than enough...
Basicly you'll only need step-ins for high grade ice and mountaineering plus mixed... Or if you have tele's or numerous boots that you plan on using the cramps (and all have also front-welts but about the same toe "profile").Originally Posted by RootSkier

Thanks. I was gonna sell these, but maybe I'll keep them. Not sure when I'd need them, but I'm the kind of guy to keep gear "just in case".
