Photo TR: Bluebird + Pow = $$$$ 11.30.06
Ever wonder what you get when you mix 20"+ of pow with -20 degree temps, some elevation, a little dry air, and a sick day from work? After a long and dreadful 2 week long drought, Colorado finally got a delivery of the goods and the delivery was grande. Over 3' dropped in some places amongst cold temperatures and a slow moving air mass.
Great beginning to a great day:
Crew getting ready in the sub zero temps:

What is the approx slope angle where that release started...looks a bit steeper above it, but right at the point, looks quite mellow.

Aspect is key with the stability right now. N-NW aspects were almost twice as deep and sensitive as all other aspects. Couldn't believe the difference. Three slides in the area today. All were remotely triggered, but didn't travel very far. The snow is very cold and not bonding very well.
