    Oktoberfest in August: Snowbird Style

Anybody going to go on Opening Day (this Saturday)? I can't wait to eat some apfel struedel, haxe; drink bier...and then ride the zip line!

    YUMMMMMI!!!

    This also sounds very cool!:
    Stargazer [Aug 25, 2006]
Cottonwood Room, Snowbird Center, Level 2
    8 p.m.
    $15/adults
    $10/12 & under.
Go on a journey with Snowbird and local astronomer, John Baranca, as we learn about the skies. John will give a short slide presentation and then we will all take a Tram ride to 11,000' Hidden Peak. John and his co-workers will show you the skies through high-powered telescopes. No reservations are taken. Pay at the door. $15/adults. Dress warm (yes, maybe even a hat).

The food hasn't been very good the last couple of years, though nothing says "I participated" like a plastic Snowbird Octoberfest beer mug to take home.

I've heard rumors of people bringing coolers, setting up camp on the grass on Chickadee and making short forays into the beer garden for bratwurst and leering at the ladies. Not that I would promote that sort of thing...

It's worth coming up just to see the GIANT construction area around the base of the new Peruvian lift.
