My 1st TR in months (w/pics). Tram laps today 6/7/06

29 tram laps since Friday on the $45 summer pass....that's what my bud Karly can claim as of this afternoon. I can only claim 2. Both of mine today. Oh well, it's a start. I been busy, ok?
ColdSmoke and I got first tram (heh) and, after much debate decided to start above Malu, in the upper bowl known as "Old Reliable."
Coverage is still excellent. In fact, we didn't have to take off our skis until the Mid-Gad restaurant at 9,000 feet. Temps stayed refreshingly cool, in the 50's until late afternoon when they got into the 60's at 11,000 feet.
The second and last time we had to walk with skis in hand was at the Dick Bass highway. The snow was melting fast there. Gaps we could jump across on our first run were too big to jump on the second.
If I hadn't been so busy with work and my son's graduation this last week, I would have been up here for sure.

You can see all of the tracks from last weekend. Upper mngmt quickly put the kaibosh on skiing the cirque on Monday, after deciding there was still a liability risk with all of the new quad construction below. If they hadn't done that you'd still be able to ski all the way to the bottom on the Perv side without taking off your skis.

    Just happy to be here....

As can be seen....coverage is stellar up top.

There were quite a few skiers making laps today. Two can be seen below us, to the left of this photo.

    Our nicely laid tracks.

Coverage is still completely unbroken even through the LC flats.

Back up for more. This time we've got company competing for our lines.

All in all, it was very fun getting up there today. I've got to schedule some more slope time...gotta pay for that pass!

Now that I'm not skiing as much, I should be able to get to some unfinished photo posting from the last few months.

Nicely done! I've retired the skis on the shit coast, even took off the ski racks for the season. Looks like you've got too much snow there to even think about that! Cirque pics look sooooo sweet, I didn't know that they opened that for a brief time.

Great work and pics. Coverage does look spectacular up there on the upper mountain, not to mention the easy vert on the Tram. Only $45 for a summer tram pass? Wowsers.

When are you going to be up there next?

It really was sweet. But, that's with heavily, I repeat, heavily structured bases. Very grabby and sucky without.
