Denver Mags--I need a cool/hip place to eat lunch

I've got a "business" lunch coming up in June, and need a super cool joint to eat lunch at in downtown Devner. Anyone got any suggestions?

It's going to be with freelance journalists, so not exactly shirt and tie--but still nice. Something that allows for good conversation and hanging out. Thank ya kindly.

Ellington's (Brown Palace $$)
Bump & Grind (the gay coffee and sammy place with awesome chix pot pie)
The press club? (never been just know it's across from the diamond)
Red Square Euro Bistro (In writer square with BZ's recco -- decent russian food)
Panzano (it's got some problems but their Calamari is outstanding)
Illegal Pete's (super casual + bad ass burritos + full bar)

And then there's a host of "boring" places as well. The supper club though is super sweet if you can pull it off, it's just a little place that has a bar + really good pizzas and a nice casual vibe.

You should be able to get into most of those places as well...some of my other suggestions might run toward lunch-rush.

edit- Yeah yoss, I think it might be too casual but I could see it going for a certain kind of bidness meal. Actually, a budget would help tremendously.

This doesn't help you much, but i recently went to Boulder for a few days for my brother's graduation, and ate like a fucking king. Boulder has a ton of really good fancy restaraunts.

You mean other than Sonada's on 16th and Market, Mori on 21st and Market, and Sushi sasa (sp?) on 15th and Platte?

as far as lunch. the Ellington's call is good and so is the Press Club. I haven't been there in years, but if you can get away with the DC. the conversation stops there.

The Wynkoop is a fairly safe bet. They got a good menu but you can always get a burger if you want to kick it down a notch. Otherwise, the pot roast is awesome.

Grizz- I'm trying really, really hard not to recco any of the cheeseball "hip" spots but I'm wavering. Maybe if vesta dipping grill has lunch...shudder...

Some more ideas: Good D-town style comfort food = Rocky Mountain Diner

if you can bustle them onto a LRtrain and if they're open for lunch there is simply no "funkier" or really better (foodwise) place than the Buckhorn Exchange (right at 10th and Osage station). Colorado's oldest restaurant (Liq.License #2). Specializes in wild/exotic meats and has thousands of stuffed animals (FYI- The Yak is awesome).

I always enjoy people buying me beers so I can tell them quite honestly that working freelance is a dog-eat-dog world. But on the other hand, not knowing where your next $100 bucks is coming from really keeps you on your toes.

another old school spot is the City Grille. one of Denver's best burger joints. actually I can't think of one better so I'll go ahead and say Denver's best burger joint.

This is for Ski Salt Lake--so it's the typical wine and dine, "we'll take you to lunch/you write a story about us" sort of thing. A good casual setting to update them on the latest and greatest in the Cottonwood Canyons for the 06/07 season.
