    Exclamation AKPM Day at Alpine Shredows - 05/14/06 TR

    Date:

    AKPM May 14, 2006 - The day our human eyes lay contact with the legend.

    Location:

    High in the Alpine Meadows of the Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains



    Weather & Temp...from the NWS remote sensor:

    41 F low and 73 F high at the wooden base lodge, blue bird, and no wind.

    Partcipants:

    AKPM, Basom, 666, Tyrone Shoelaces, Arty50, Kellie, Ryan, MTT, Splat, Legoskier, Divegirl, AKA, Hicks, Irul&ublo, Onehotchili & family, kidwoo, soulskier, Mc roon, P McPoser, Johnny1496, Jesus, Corky, Mrs. Corky, Sinecure, lhs, snowtigress.....and probably others,

    Gameplan:

    Ski with AKPM of course...which is a little difficult with 30 people.

    Boring drive from South Lake...



    Might as well use the 195 Igneous Fat Carvers...AKPM is in town.



    God was spotted on the slopes...

    Soulskier, finding his sould on some creamy icee...



    FKNA....its SPLAT!



    Letting the Bros take flight...



    Irul&ublo summons up a case...



    ...and files for summary judgment



    kidwoo shows that one can carve on touring bindings...



    The AKPM parade heads to Keyhole...



    Basom crevasse gapin' on lower keyhole...



    Kellie finds a steep line...



    AKA lookin' hot as ever....



    ...nice definition!



    AKPM finds a nice line....



    Now, off to trim in Beaver Bowl...Mammoth has Balls, Alpine has Beaver.



    Beaver has some wierd trees to start the forest...



    Basom... "best Beaver I've ever ridden"...



    Its officially an orgy...



    Hicks flew in from Germany to Toronto to SFO to Detroit to Mexico City back to Germany...and he made for AKPM's day!



    Hicks loving it!



    Soulskier finds a slot in the Beaver...



    AKA making mess in Upper Beaver...



    but gets it back together on the lower section....



    Arty50 airs into the Beaver...



    and then carves his way to safety...



    Sinecure gets lost in AKA's mess....



    Kellie skis over to the straightline as well...



    Snowtigress makes it look easy...

    Hicks below Three Sisters...



    With Twin Peaks in the background, we then head to High Yellow for some "untracked"...



    Lhs uses her Igneous to slay the smooth snow.....



    Basom....GOD he is a great skier!



    Over to Sherwood Cliffs....Hicks finds a nice slot...



    AKA having just a great time...



    Basom gets all French on us....



    He said "I measured the steepness on my descent...it was 80 degrees, must be a record"



    Ty gets in on the action....



    Did I say something???????



    Skier666 displays his retro loyalty....



    hop makes a rare appearance...



    Hicks...so fucking stoked on his side trip to California.....

    Yes...LCD in pieces. I have no idea what setting I'm on, whether the flash is on, continuous mode, etc. But it works with trial and error....through the viewfinder.

    the skate up to where we started estelle bowl brought me back to my skate ski racing crowed ass uphills roots it was very refreshing
