Exclamation Call the Doctor. I think I'm Sick. A Hospital Air TR.

    Kirkwood.

36" of snow in 36 hours. 15 degrees.

Started Monday evening and ended late Tuesday with the upper mountain shut down all day Tuesday.

    Wednesday.

    Bluebird.

    Sick day.

Mrs. Slim, my brother-in-law, and I roll up into Kirkwood 8:20ish and the lot is filling up. The powder eaters are coming out of the woodwork. It appears others are sick too.

We make it to the Chair 6 line-up where we meet the rest of today's players:
Tyrone Shoelaces, AKA, Kush, Superstar Punani, Stoney Wall, and Brooks.

The rope drops at 9am dead on and the typical chair loading and unloading madness ensues. I somehow managed first tracks in Upper Cham to Oops which I dedicated to the long lost 666. Does he even ski anymore?

After a few spread out laps the team re-convenes out at Sentinal just as patrol prepares to drop the ropes out to Palisades. Patrol states everything to the boundary is clear though the High T isn't set yet.

Stoney Wall is happy to oblige what with his free heels and all.

His efforts were well rewarded. Stoney Wall dropping a knee in Outer Palisades.

Punani coming up for air in the Palisades.

    Powder to the People!

    Tyrone Shoelaces at the Caves...

    ...and practicing his hot tub.

From there we found Chair 10 as well as Eagle Bowl were open. Some snowboarder that is buddies with some guy named OJ at Kodak Cliffs.

All sorts of other lines were hit that I don't have photos of, however, Brooks or Punani might. Danger Cliffs, Dogleg Cliffs, Dan's Cliffs, the Sisters, and Heart Chute to name a few. By mid-day, the sun was starting to set up the snow, leaving it spongy and perfect for hucking. This is when things got hairy.

Kush and Tyrone had met up with Kirkwood local Skiin' Ian (the guy that hucked a 103' cliff near Tremman's last week... yes, he measured) and talk quickly turned to Hospital Air.

    Kush inches in.

    Commits.

    And goes...

    very...

    very...

    big.

    X marks the bombhole.

    Kush, local hero.

"So, uh, I guess it's your turn Tyrone."

    "Okay."

    "Just a little right turn..."

    "...and I'm good to go."

Three's company. Skiin' Ian drops in as well.

What a sick fucking day. I'm really happy you all got some.

Edit: No need for that other stuff in a superb thread.

Though the focus has been on HA (Mad Props), for the rest of us ground dwellers, these other pics are out of control! That contrail supu is kicking up is sick and in the second one, forget a snorkel, you need full scuba gear! Yee Haa....

Okay. If one of those bars is six feet, I count seventeen of them from take off to landing, making the jump at least 102 feet. That doesn't take into account perspective change lower down, so I reckon this air is significantly bigger. Any math/geometry/surveying/smartass gurus care to expound?

Got the following txt from Brownmonkey

"That was the best day in my life. Ever. 1st tracks down norm's nose, 20th person off the sunrise chair, about 50th person down The Wall, metres and metres of fresh tracks, pre release mid air after jumping in off a cornice , perfect run down the saddle - oh and yes, a very inelegant run down Heart Chute Missed my wingman though - Epic"

    What a bastard.

Honestly, does it matter if it's 97' or 102' or 108' ?!? My balls would tuck themselves deep into my stomach and stay there in hiding for a few days if I even considered hitting HA (even from the safety of my computer), regardless of the minute difference in height. That being said, I think those bars are probably closer to 5-5.5', but accounting for perspective difference might end up around the same height.

    That is simply amazing.

What's the impact feel like when you touch down? Are your knees slamming up into your chest? Or are you backslapping down fully prone?

Looks like at least Ty fully backslapped it. Not sure you'd want to be much more forward at that speed... but what do I know, as Ty apparently grew himself into a monster
