TR: Jackson Hole March 3rd-7th, 2005

Went to Jackson Dull for a couple of days with my inlaws, nieces (who rode a quad at age 2.9 years old), and Mrs. 666 for spring conditions, hardpack for groomers, and some winter snow in the northern aspects. They haven't had the greatest of years in the snow category, but it really didn't matter...still had a glorious time.

Met up with my guide Sven to hit up some BC northern aspects. We would charge some groomers and some laps on Tower 3 to warm up. We decided to take at least one run out each day....it just worked out that it was Granite Canyon each day....because of the snow quality, ease of access, the terrain, and the stability of the snow.

I know, I know, where are all the pics of the daffy's into Corbets? Well, it was closed the whole time I was there...sorry hopefully next year.

I was the man with the camera, so I'm nowhere to be found in these pics, but skied all the same lines....OK, you got me, I was in the hot tub at the Four Seasons sipping mulled wine.

Some lame mountain in the BC with a simple couloir down the gut...skied the day before I got there...GNAR!

    I'd rather be at work....

First turns of the trip....yawn...Horseshoe Couloir below the Tram, WAY skiers left of Corbet's

    Boring....Sven's buddy being bored...

My BC guide...Sven Olson....skiing this on Big Foot's....classic!

I skied the whole thing switch...hit the mandatory 10 ft air in the middle and stuck a quad twister...but I had the camera...oh well

    Sven skiin' the slush....

Sven on the lower part of the first run....he'll tell you he stuck it clean

    Granite Canyon....endless opportunities....but flat as a pancake

View from the Headwall hike out to the top of Casper, Craggs, and the BC...

    "Mile-long"...bulletproof...

    Skiing into "Endless" untracked....lame

Sven bustin' out his Fat snowlerblades...and the "sickest hair on the lens shot" eva'

    Crust.....

Rather be playin' Gyromite on my NES than ski this crap....

    Sven searching for snow-snakes.....found nothing

Mrs. 666 raillin' the Goats on the groomed...

"Gun Sight" - first tracks...SUCKS!!! This TR blows

Sven acting like he knows what he's doing...he has no clue where we are...

My gnar line on looker's right, Sven's pussy line looker's left...OK, so I threw boulder over there to make the bombhole...

Pure blower bliss on the way down...

    S V E N > > >

View of "Gun sight" from below...

The mountain was bullet at this point, but we found a patch of pow in a field of dirt...

This TR is totally lame. I've seen Skier666 ski and he's terrible. He only skis on blue runs.

    666 skiing the BC in a long-sleeve...

We went back into Gun sight the following day (view from the middle)..notice that the tracks have been erased. You can air off the left...perfect for triple-full-full's...

    Sven trying to impress me....

    Sven's buddy carving the windbuff...

    Sven now gets into gear...

    And again....

The last day...sick of the firm on-piste, Mrs. 666 joins us in the fun...as a couple flakes start to fall, and the wind starts to blow...

Mrs. 666 underneath the Matterhorn, wait, where are we? Damn this is a long TR...

Finally, Mrs. 666 heads for the traverse of back to the resort...

the t out is by far the most fun part. if i could, i would just skip the decent and go right to the traverse out. it rules.

    Hardpacker

Sweet shot of horseshoe. One of my favorite stories was of Theo yelling at some kid who locked up in there. I was guiding a group from Europe of Pro snowboarders and they chickened out when it came time to drop in. Your pics do it justice.

Man, you were wearing a long sleve t-shirt touring in Granite Canyon.... What, are you from California or something?

    Skier666, you rip shit!

The traverse out of Granite was pretty cherry too, huh? How'd you like the mandatory air about 70% of the way through?

If I saw a picture of 666 skiing without a single rock around I think I would go into shock.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up. Kick ass job, sir.

    No worries...just sharing the stoke...

The traverse out is sooooo much fun, we just had to do it everyday At one point I got bucked off the traverse to switch, Sven had troubles as well....if you go slow, its fine. If you do it with speed, it get a little more interesting.

On a separate note 666, I think I saw that guy on your avatar at Kirkwood a couple of weeks ago. Laughed my ass off when I thought about your story on how you got it.

nice TR, once again you managed to find the hardpack, but how else would you want to huck? too bad you didn't find any iced moguls to straightline, but I'm sure you'll find some of those when you come back to the wood.
