Gauging interest in a Euro camp for 2011...

Now that the dollar is a little stronger I'm thinking about organizing another trip overseas. For dates, I was thinking the last week of January. 8 days of skiing, 9 nights. Arrive Friday, Jan. 21, depart Sunday, Jan. 30. from Geneva. Or possibly a slightly shorter trip depending on demand?

Location wise, I'm thinking Chamonix with side trips to Champery, Courmayer, Verbier, Zinal. Maybe do 5 nights in Chamonix and 4 nights in Martigny or somewhere that allows good access to Champery, Verbier, Zinal.

10 attendees plus myself and a local guide. Only expert skiers.

Without doing much research, the price would probably be somewhere around $3000 including ground transportation, lodging, tickets and guiding.

    Anyone interested?

I would be interested. Primary goal this winter was to score a cat trip. I'm feeling like that is unlikely to happen and this sounds like a really good alternative.

Is Old Forrester still old in the old country, or is it just Forrester?

If there is a Foie Gras buffet, I am in.

Especially interested in the shorter 3-4 day camps.

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

I am definately interested, but I think I am going to need an MRI on my knee before making any commitments.

I am going to start collecting all the loose change in my couch. I will have to start selling doggie and kitty drugs onthe street corner. Anybodies kitty need a fix?

A slightly shorter trip would work logistically better for me, but I can make this work.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

possibly. i'm pretty beat up these days so would be hard to throw in a commit until a month or so from now at the earliest. if everything checked out ok, then i would be up for a 3-4 day-er for sure, have to think on a full 8. mostly a matter of time off from work.

Sounds like the shorter camp is the ticket for most. I'm going to try to work out what it would take to make it happen from an economic standpoint, since less people/less time makes it more difficult to cover my expenses and make any profit. I'm down with a shorter camp though if that's what works out, for sure.

    Two back-to-back shorter camps. Duh.

str8line, yep, that would be a good plan. I may also be interested in the short version. My guess is you would have more Euro takers.

Maybe consider a short camp based in Chamonix and another
in Martigny with the option to do both for those who want a longer camp.

That's a cool idea. Then maybe a few holdovers from America would do both, lessening the task of trying to fill two seperate short camps. I'm just not sure there is that kind of demand to fill two short camps.

How does the weekend of January 14, 15, 16 sound? A Friday through Sunday camp in Chamonix? 3 days just seems a little short for the Alps though. Would 4 be better? Then maybe start another camp on Tuesday over in Switzerland for 3 or 4 days?

Any Jan dates in Cham would be fine for us for 2 places, agree 4 days better than 3!

    2 4-dayers:

    chamonix 15-18 Jan (Sat-Tues)
    Wednesday day off
    verbier 20-23 Jan (Thu-Sun)

this gives both camps the benefit of covering a couple days with weekend time and gives you a midweek transfer day. if you (and others) wanted to ski 'recreationally' that day i could probably hook up with you here on the swiss side and hit the bestest pow spot within an hour or so.

ps. what is considered "expert" these days?

Suggestion: buy your Euros now or lock in your prices. The US$ is heading lower.
