Veni, Vidi, Vici. A Heli Aided Assault on Europe.

Here is an account of a covert strike mission that me and my friends made on the french and italian alps over the past couple of weeks. The mindless weeks at university in the UK finaly came to an end and we were able/lucky to get our fill, both in Val d'Isere and Tignes, skiing in resort, and in Valgrisenche in Italy, from a heli.

Incidentally, anybody interested in proper heliskiing in the alps right ought to look no further than Valgrisenche. They have the choice of 18 3000m+ peaks covering every aspect, which frankly eats any other heli-op in the alps for breakfast. We got absurdly lucky with our guide Bazu too- long story short he was a total potshot on our part and turned to be an absolute hero, big turns, big skis, big smiles and all. Anyone needs a guide, http://www.medianeige.com/Bazu/index2.php

    Excellent stuff.

So now we know. It's the students who are driving up heliskiing prices!

Sick. Is that couloir 3500 on there? Good conditions. Makes me wish I wasn't in Italy on the beach right now. Well...not really. Good work.

No 3500 in here. Glacier shots are N. Face of Gd. Motte, lookers right of the cable car. Couloir photos are just of Mickeys, one with the avy is in banane chutes, just to lookers left of second chair up the Bellevarde.

^Not sure what you're getting at verbier, Valgrisenche is in Italy, a short heli hop from st. foy, near Val d'Isere.

my point was -maybe- a bit too subtle, but I believe it's interesting.
The french banned heliski in their alps some 25 or so years ago, but they are offering helicopters bringin you to italy......

to add to that there is a story (which may be slightly exaggerated but not far from the truth) that the last legal heli-drop in France deposited the minister who brought in the ban on top of Mont Buet

not sure i share your cynicism- all it was was a heli taxi ride if you will, being deposited in the village of valgrisenche, IT, much like a russian would habitually use to travel to and from an airport. it wasn't as soon as we crossed the italian border we were deposited atop a peak...

then again, i quite clearly have a vested interest here so whatever- vive la ?***? francais!
