Holy Smokes! I'm starting now to convince Mrs. Powstash that I need an AK trip next year. Whoa!

I'm dying to see around the corners of those cooler aprons to check out the Baffin style chutes. Did you get a look at them?

Convincing the wife about the NEED was the toughest part of the trip.....so I already put the deposit down for the same week next year. I am going to try to take three weeks, the first in the hut and the rest scooting around denali with flight assisted camping.......
I dunno if we looked up those particular coolas but the were plenty around.

The face on Dicky, about two miles away is about a mile high. Here the glacier is 3,800 feet deep making it the deepest gorge in north america, possibly the world when one this one melts out!

I'd like to interupt the making of this TR to say
Yesterday in the BCC did not suck

    Ok back to the tr
Day 3 St. Paddys day after the previous days slog we decided to see what we could ski close to the hut.
The shit house coulior looked nice but not really skinable

    We opted for this one

Pondo had a little binding trauma, but nothing a little bailing wire and a leatherman couldn't fix
The views from the top were stellar as are skiing on PM gears Brockers

    Topher gittin sum

    Josh

    The Saint Paddys day couliar

After a couple laps we headed back to celebrate the holiday proper

Jon whipped up some pasta as a $8,000 whore would make and the Jamesons and other green bottled liquids were consumed

    TBC....

Mmmmmmmm, probably rather just ski and not haul gadgets.

I was talking with Guy, he said you guys had stellar weather. Seems like everyone has gone to AK and had good weather except me. I'm a little tainted about AK, having gotten my ass kicked the entire time I was there.

but looking back at the pics they don't seem to do justice to how large everything is
Funny. You're up there and thinking, "Oh, it's probably going to take us an hour to cross this glacier".

Three hours later and you're still walking.

I guess shipping/flying the helicam to AK would be a hassle, but looking back at the pics they don't seem to do justice to how large everything is. Pondo shot some vid a few days. Hoping to get that footy someday.
I'm kind of leary of going back after scoring such good conditions, but then again sitting in a warm hut vs a cold ass tent makes this place sweet.

Bring me your damn beat up bros for a grind before the machines are put to bed. Cause scoring 7 1/2 sunny days in AK was a huge withdrawl from our collective Karma banks.
Day 4 after making it down Pittock pass we decided to skin up it to ski some terrain off mount Dickey we scoped out the 2nd day
Kind of spooky being under these huge seracs

We tried to minimze our exposure, but Suv sized chunks of blue ice were a good reminder.
Quite a few times the seracs would rumble and crack but not let go.
Off the back of the pass we skied down past some cool features

We were hoping to possibly summit Dickey, but even though pits revealed decent stablity steep loading above and not wanting to push things led to a few laps and some photoslutting
    Toph

    Josh

Jon nailed a sweet line but my camera doesn't do the into the sun shot well

Somebody even got a shot of me rippin the gnar

Day 5 Awoke to a couple inches of snow and socked in skies.
    Obligtory bacon pic

After a hearty breakfast, coffee talk and daily safety briefing, we rolled out to ski after a couple short laps off the side of Mount Barill in vertigo inducing white out. Stan the raven, who had destroyed our garbage a few days before, flew over and the skies cleared. Kind of like an Oburnhard miracle
We worked around to this steep face w/ minimal overhead danger onto what appeared to be wind affected snow but wasn't .

I had brought both my 1st year bros and a pair of brocker brototypes
So i let Jon use the brockers this day he dug and ripped the shit out of them.

    Toph

    A bum on bros

Blowing by the damn turn farming meadow skippers cause the last one to the hut has to empty the honey bucket

    Sum gotten
