Skin sizing?
yeah, im running out the door for work and didnt have time to do a search....
anywho, just picked up some G3 skins for my new (and first) AT setup and was wondering if i got the best size?
i guess this is an opinion question, but would you get a wider pair or stick w/ the ones i got?
thanks

this is the ongoing debate...do you need wall to wall at the tips? Steep climbs probably better to have it, but youll have wall to wall underfoot where most of your effective edge is anyway.
I'd say these are OK for those skis.
Im basically just a JONG though.

From one BC JONG to another, I've heard wall to wall is more important on your tails then the tip of your ski.

Good rule of thumb is to size closest to tail dimension. You'll be fine though.

i think theyre the same price, but when i asked the guy at MSO he suggested the 100's. I had 120's in my hand, shoulda split the difference.
i will go back 2mrw and get the 110's
its almost BC time for me
on a side note, when i got my bacon, pack, shovel and probes i coulda sworn it came in a sweet package deal
after dicking around on BCA and backcountry.com i couldnt find teh bundles anymore. anyone know where to find them?
thanks for helping out a jongy mcjongsalot

The first couple pairs of skins I've bought I bought based on the tip width and trimmed them. The last time I bought skins I went with whatever size is just skinnier than my waist width. I haven't noticed a difference. I have districts (103 underfoot) with 100mm skins and it's fine. I'm sure people will tell me I should get wider ones and trim them, but they seem to work fine for me.

You can get a basic setup (beacon, probe, shovel) as a package at http://www.randogear.com/

100mm is def. fine. like asheanMT said, if you struggle, it will be on only the steepest slopes, and pretty minor. if you are trimming skins for the first time, you should have an easier time with 100mm than the 110mm. although its not rocket science. you def. don't need 120mm.

Delicious and safe!
If we sold out of a package like the one you're talking about, it won't show up on the site. You can email service@backcountry.com, give them your name and order number and they can help you with anything.
