    RIP RF

Yup, the raichle flexon (or Kneissl flexon if you prefer) is dead after however many years (at least 20???). I talked to someone at Roces who says Kneissl will not be producing it this year and the molds are for sale (PM boots?). Apparently, there was not enough market to continue production. They sold 1,000 pair in the U.S. and 1,000 pair in Japan last season, that was it. So pour some out for a dead homie tonight, and let the hoarding begin.....

Yeah, PM gear or someone should look into producing those boots. Flexon skiers are like a cult.

Wasn't there a rumor that K2 was going to start making them?

Unfortunately overdue. I think the Dalbello model that Plake has been working on is pretty superior to the old Flexon. Plus just think Flexon freaks now you could get parts, service etc, without visiting your local thrift store or garage sale.

Not as much an opportunity as a humungous cash infusion would be. We have to keep small and grow within our financial limitations, so it is not an option at this time.

Why spend all this money to get set up to sell a boot that has been proven to have a limited market?

Limited market or really poor distribution in the last few years? I still think the flexon is a great boot for certain purposes. I think it's new market could be as a park/pipe boot for all the jibbers (the biggest growth segment in skiing). As long as this boot fits you it is awesome for jumping. If 4FRNT or Armada picked it up and sold it, and actually made it available, under their name they would make a killing, IMO.

well, gees, to bad i dont have a spare injection molding machine sitting around my house, hey maybe I can get the plastics program at western to buy the molds On second thought those molds are probally beat to shit by now from so much use over the years. I never skied the flexons, they just didnt fit my feet, but it is sad to see such a iconic piece of gear disapear from the market place.

I agree with you (and didn't think of that.) I was referring mostly to branding it a "PMGear" boot.

Supposedly it was going to be distributed nationwide by Roces this past year, and somebody dropped the ball and I never saw a pair anywhere.

Boots I use flexon's 9.9's, which K2 has bought the molds and are giving me a pro model boot. Not sure when this will be out, but we are testing it in two weeks.

Poles I use the K2 6 Speed and 5 Speed poles. Nice and lite, and easy to change powder to hard pack baskets.

Glad to see the dream continue. BTW, I have two pairs of 310mm flexons, one pair has less then a season on them (they are black and grey, last year said Raicle instead of Kneissl). Only selling the shells I think. If anyone's interested that is.

I am bummed to hear this. My current boots are the blue and silver Raichle Flexons with a Kneissl star (301mm length) and my previous boots were also Raichle Flexons (Dark grey and pink). The newer Raichles are the lightest downhill boot I have ever worn. I'm going to be making a hoarding effort right away. Anybody out there want to part with a newer blue and silver shell in a 301mm length?

This is also being discussed at epicski:

Someone else is looking for a 301mm length too.
