I'll be at Hood this weekend to ski a new BroModel. It will be a
softened version of the stiffie. We're going to start building it tomorrow, based on the feedback everyone provided over the 4th. I will have one rippin fat mofo available to anyone who's on the mountain this weekend, if you'd like to ski it.
Guaranteed more user-friendly. This one will initiate better and turn a little shorter. Should be the final version we go to production with. We're out to kick some LP butt.
If this is the one, we'll be taking "maggot special" orders at $450.
I get into PDX late Friday night, hanging with Natty, up the mountain Saturday morn, skiing Sat, Sun, Mon. Sorry, bossass, used up all my freebies last trip. tihaber - get that fedex today?
Originally posted by Zeedashbo very tempted to come down and get some of this pent up aggression out of my system. but that little angel on my shoulder keeps pointing to my back and laughing.
I don't have time to come yank you up by the nap of the neck, so it'd be nice if you did.
Cannot wait. We're ordering the materials to go to full-tilt production tomorrow. This model will be the Neo of my esoteric oddball collection of insane boards. See ya then, Natty, and everyone else on the hill Saturday!
Yep, we changed it up on the dimension, added 1mm tip and tail. On my way to get the new Bro's mounted and tuned. The bit of softening that has occurred in the flex should be quite welcomed, as well as the increased carving with the additional sidecut. The tip now has a sweet spot to more easily engage the flex throughout the ski and get a shorter radius turn out of it. But it's still a pretty stiff ski, but should be far more manageable on edge, flex very nicely, and blow minds. But just think what it'll do in the deep and on the steep. Siiiiiiiick.........
I'll be taking both the stiffies and the new version to Hood for comparison. Can't wait to pass these babies around and let the testers report back to everyone here.
edit: Our calculations on the core changes predicted an actual 23% softer version of the stiffie, but it's looking more like only 20% softer, minor enough that mbs will still cream his jeans when he skis them, and everyone when else will agree that this change will make the ski - perfecto!
Whew!!!! Such days as rippin on-edge tracks across the Palmer, squirrelling every slice of available edge into a kaleidescopic potpourri (sp?) of angles and curves. Such is the way it's been the last two days at Hood. The Bro's have been good to us. And I had quality time with my bros, finally getting enough face time with them to share some family secrets and perform to expectation.
I'll let others who skied them say what they thought. I'll just say I was having too much fun.
edit: Tiipster - got your email and you're on. Couldn't respond to your pm due to mac incompetence.
PM Gear's resident touring guru, TeleRob, will report on those capabilities from Argentina. With some copious amounts of outstanding shots of him killing it on the BroModels, TeleRob style. Prepare to be awe-struck when you see those shots.
Sorry, one topsheet, one length. We're just a small company doing big things (to us). Not alot of leeway in customizing once we have our designs set. But we might offer one or two different flexes for the ski. Maybe more lengths next year.
Just got down from Hood. Spent the day on the Bros, which was sweet, cause I've been passing them around so much, I wanted to ski just them and feel the love all to myself. And it was sweet.
Since a few others have posted, I'll just say they did every single thing I asked them to on the piste. And I have absolutely no doubt they'll perform even better in pow, chop, and crud. This is the one we were shooting for. I'm sooooo stoked. Saw some dude with some obvious Line protos in the parking lot, we got to talking....it was Eric Pollard. He's helping design some fat jib skis, so we had a great time talking about the process. And yes, he dug the Bros, even though the tail is a bit stiff for it to be a jib ski.
Lookin pretty Stacy-esque myself in those pics up there, but that was the test - can we make a powder ski that rips the shit out of the grooms, the chop, the crud, and hold on ice?????????????????
FKNA - yes we can. Just took a little tuning on the first brototypes. Just got home and have to say I had the most fun at Hood I've ever had there, especially Saturday.
Super-huge thanks to Cody (aka maggot handle Derek Fischer) for the still grabs from his video. And to cultvo, who I think still has some reporting to finish(?). Looked for you yesterday, cultvo.
Advance orders are piling in from all over, including the French guys at skipass.com, so I'll start a new thread in the next day or so on how to get the maggot advance deal for $450 plus shipping.
Dude, they were havin dinosaur races up there that day. Racers even I thought were ancient in windsuits. But no dinosaur jib contests. damn. I do recall someone hollering at me. I think they said "Hey, shunny, could I borrow some of your shteeze?"
Dave is the creator of the Phantoms, which PM Gear will build this year. As for comments made that might put the Phantom in a less than favorable light, I will contend that in about sixor seven runs on the Phantoms, I felt rejuvenated about how I ski.
Why? Because those little suckamuckas make you ski the way you should be skiing long boards - on edge, powerstroking into the ski to flex it, and rebounding out to the next edge. I railed those midgets all over Palmer and had a blast. At the top, I changed out with someone and threw the stiffies on, then forgot I had changed skis.
My run on the stiffies after skiing the Phantoms was one of the best runs of the weekend - insane. I thought I had the Phantoms onso I was just rockin the same way, grabbing the tail snap out of the turns to rebound into the air and onto the next edge, over and again. When I got to the bottom, I looked down and saw that I had the stiffies on my feet and was blown away - I would have never believed I could have skied those stiffies like that. There's something about those Phantoms - andit's all good.
