Cool Photo TR: Deepest day of the season 9.17.06

And the first day of the season .

Few pics from our outing yesterday. Felt good to make turns in soft snow again. Winds were brutal, but made for some decent conditions in pockets. 2-3' drifts in places.

Not many ski/snowboard shots because I dropped my camera down a scree field and busted the lens.

    Enjoy:

    Yup, looks windy up there:

    Early morning light:

    Aspens beginning to peak:

    Colorful hillside:

    Reaching the snowline:

Hallet Peak hiding in the clouds:

    Dead tree:

    Another scenic of Hallet:

    Getting deeper:

Winter is knocking on the door:

Forgot how much I love postholing:

Getting ready to make the first turns of the season:

Cold smoke goodness in the middle of September:

Yup, it sucks. Careless mistake too. Left the camera bag unzipped and was bending over to buckle up my boots. Saw the camera pop out of the bag and start rolling down the snow towards the scree field. Nothing I could do but watch it tumble over sharp rocks and boulders. The body of the camera is fine, but the lens took most of the abuse. Guess I have an excuse to buy a new lens .

Man, September and the high quality TRs are starting . . . love it!!! Looks like a pretty good day (camera damage, notwithstanding) and pretty rad to be in a world of such color contrasts!
