Jesus. My wife got some live CD that's been playing for like two lifetimes tonight. She likes it. I may have to kill her.
I mean, early 80's U2 sounded kinda okay in the early 80's, but what the hell are these people thinking?

...got my mom the same CD for Christmas. Not that I dislike Coldplay, but I do certainly dislike hearing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and...
I dig coldplay, even though it seems they are selling out. Good chill music, but sometimes makes me depressed.

Don't really know either band, but I'd have to give the nod to the "Macarena" or "Who Let the Dogs Out" bands.

ABBA
Shimmery guitars, plaintive vocals, occasional crescendos, attempts at anthems, Coldplay is a bad copy of a band I didn't like very much the first time around.
I was lying in the bedroom with pillows over my head a few minutes ago, hoping that I would die or the music would stop.
Either option was fine with me.
Gee, in a world that brought Warrant, Limp Bizkit, Foreigner, New Kids On The Block, The B-52s, and Van Haggar, Coldplay can't possibly win the title of "Worst Band In The History Of The World"

GEE, I guess you told me.
None of those, with the exception of NKOTB, can drive me up the wall quite like Coldplay. It may be just because I hear their songs all the time, but I concur with Iceman, Coldplay may be the worst.Originally posted by Plakespear

And NKOTB ain 't even a band.
Coldplay Parachutes = good CD. There also are some nice moments on the Rush of Blood CD. But...
Coldplay live CD = no thanks![]()

Radiohead started out very much the same. Listen to Pablo Honey--lots of U2 influence there.Originally posted by iceman

And Dexter will reply, "yes, they suck too."![]()
Just because something goes popular doesn't mean it sucks. Coldplay was a good band before they broke big. And they still are. How have they "sold out"? By making money? Those bastards!

i agree...nothing to do with them selling out or whatever. they just bug the shit out of me.
Speaking of gwynneth, surely her duet with Huey Lewis is worse than her man's band.
I love coldplay. In addition to Linkin Park and Radiohead, only decent bands out there right now.

coldplay [shudder] ugh
Radiohead probably is one of the greatest bands on the planet. Man I just got done listening to "the bends" what a great cd.
come on Plakespear, dont bust VanHaggar, I loved those guys back in the day.
More fucked up than a cricket in a hubcap
while i agree that coldplay makes me want to shove a pencil in my ear, they did lead to the greatest music metaphor i've ever heard. somehow we ended up (via chuck's shitty mix-making) listening to that crappy song that's like 'home home where i something something' and gaperteddy was like 'whoa, this song sounds like allen iverson playing basketball backwards'.
needless to say we listened to the song like 4 times in a row after that.
Yup, beginning to end one of the best cd's in my meager collection.Originally posted by Crinkle

Coldplay I can tune out, but Radiohead makes me praise the Lord for push button radios.
That's a great album...I used to listen to "Anyone Can Play Guitar" before skiing...then "Blowout" on the way home. There's a version of "Blowout" with Portishead floating around that's good listening.Originally posted by The AD

"The Bends" and "OK Computer" are also awesome.
Our first date, my girl had "the bends" in her CD player. I knew this was the one.Radiohead probably is one of the greatest bands on the planet. Man I just got done listening to "the bends" what a great cd.

Is Coldplay the worst band in the history of the world?
Nope. Gotta vote for Phish.

Coldplay? Is that the worst?
Consider:
1) Theenters with the treble turned up to 11.
2) Zamphir after too much retsina.
3) The GoGos.
4) Jorge Santana (thank your deities if you've never heard it, I'm still playing evil fruit cake gift with that thing 20 years later).
5) Creed
6) Angel (Punky's lips, eh?)
7) Never ever overlook Henry Cow or the Art Bears for sheer annoyance.
