    Moment Bibby Pro

    Hi guys!

Anyone here with a review of the Bibby ski or maybe some usefull info about it like radius and that stuff?
Someone that can compare it to another similar ski i.e. hellbent?
Also, anyone with photos of it? I have seen the pics in the "rocker 2008" thread.

I have already searched on both NS and here at TGR, not that much info about it. Maybe nobody has skied it.

    Anyway, thanks!

Never ridden it or the Hellbent.

    For dimensions/graphics: http://jibij.com/entry.php?manufacture=64

Skier666 has ridden the Melee (the 07/08 pre-genesis of the Bibby), and he is helpful in getting Moment info.

Yeah, I have seen the stuff at Jibij, that's were I'm going to order them from. And I would like a pic of the bases.

But it doesn't say radius which is a important thing since I mainly ski trees here in Sweden.

Do you think it would fit me? I'm not a big fella, 173 cm and ~60 kg without ski equipment. Ski around 80-90 days per season and like to play around, hit pillows but also go fast and spray snowboarders with my evil surf slash from hell.

I'll PM 666 for sure to ask him about the ski, Thanks!

Email Josh at Jibij. He's been riding them all Spring and can tell you plenty about them. From what he's told me, he's a pretty big fan of the Bibbys.

    Length: 186
    Dimensions: 143-115-134
    Radius: 34

I imagine the turning radius feels a lot lower since there's not a whole lot contact area.

Aha! so the melee had the same dimensions as the bibby.

Yah, with the rocker and the medium flex they should be pretty easy to turn in the tight spots.

    The Melee from the website....

Unique Sierra snow and terrain makes for mean backcountry bombing and jumping. That’s why we spend most of our time out there. Naturally we came up with a backcountry freestyle board. New for 2007/2008, the Melee is the ultimate powder jib weapon. Its Symmetrical design, extremely soft flex, and tip and tail rocker will help you dominate any terrain feature; regular or switch.

    Size: 186
    Tip-Waist-Tail: 135-120-135
    Radius: 34
    Running Length: 1433
Sorry, but haven't been on the Bibby. Melee is super soft but pretty stiff underfoot. Angled correctly, they will carve on the piste. They are pretty fun, but somewhat limited.

    teo, got your p/m.

My buddy Carston rides the Bibbys so he knows more about them than I do, but I can say that he absolutely loves them. He's got a set of Bibbys, Melees, Rubys, and Comi-Kazis (maybe more, I'm not sure) and I know he rides the bibbys most often. They have a flex similar to rossignol steez and the rocker in the front is pretty subtle so they manage well at high speeds. Regular camber under foot and decently stiff.

    Hope that helps...

Well, since you are looking for a Hellbent sort of ski, then its probably up in the range of skis that you are looking for.

However, if you are looking for an all-mountain destroyer, look at the M1 or Ruby. The new 190 Rubys are my new favorite skis for all conditions (groomed to pow). The M1 and Rubys are the beefiest skis in the lot with the M1 being even thicker underfoot than the Ruby. I've got a pair of Tahoe, Ruby, Melee, M1, & Comi Kazi just for reference.

You should probably give me those Melees.

yeeaaah, I think the M1 will be to much of a ski for me and the Ruby does not really fit my type of skiing.

So I'll go with the Bibby, it looks like a great ski!

    Thanks for all your help!

Teo, what with you being a Swede and all, have you ever scoped out the Hendryx skis?

I think the Rhino Chaser seems intriguing (and it's got a short TR, too).

I've been intrigued by this ski for years, but haven't gotten around to visiting Sweden so i can demo them.

They are crazy expensive with a lot of sidecut, both of which don't bode well for a powder ski.

well, crazy expensive for us since we're Yanks (Teo is gonna pay some serious shipping and import charges on anything he purchases from a U.S. based company, I would imagine).

also, besides finding the Hendryx intriguing for my own self, i was just throwing out the possibility of him supporting his own countrymen, but more importantly was basing it on this quote from his second post:

"But it doesn't say radius which is a important thing since I mainly ski trees here in Sweden."

that leads me to believe that he wishes for a tight turning radius as opposed to something in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Hopefully no. We are currently working on setting up Swedish (Scandinavian) distribution which should be ready for the 08/09 season.

We are also working on getting New Zealand setup.

....we quadrupled production....all these skis have to go somewhere.

    ^nice.

good to hear that biz is good enough for quad prod.

btw, still hand-crafted in Reno or have you guys outsourced at all?

still need to get on those 188 Rubys, too (the 180s were a wee bit stiff for my taste...then again i did only get to try 'em on a boilerplate and wind whipped day at Rose).
