    TR: Starlight Couloir 5/13/06

Met up with Mountain Freak and hit Starlight Couloir off James Peak on Saturday. Had killer weather with light winds and bluebird sky.

While we were gearing up, “Chewey” (famous local dog) made an appearance. He decided to join us on our way up from the parking lot. Once we got up to St. Mary’s lake, we parted ways as he went to hang with the 25 or so CMC folks who were training on the glacier.

Mountain Freak checking the slope angle. 49 degrees on the entrance ramp but it quickly drops to 40-45degrees:

Great day. The snow in the couloir was nice and soft with 3-4" of new snow on top of a somewhat firm base. Made for effortless turns but you did have to keep an eye on your sluff.

Hopefully the pictures come through. Being my first TR, I’m not 100% sure if I’m linking them correctly or not.

That was a great day dude! I took some video of Col Man in the coolie. As soon as I can load it to a host I'll post it. Sadly this is my first post in about 5 months. They blocked this site at work because I was on it too much.

One of my better days on the split.

And nice write up, pretty much wrapped up that day perfectly.
