Listening to Romantic Warrior right now.

Although my fave is "Where Have I Known You Before"

    It's all good.

    You're a dork.

    What are you talking about?

Ahh... Geeky '70s fusion, how I love thee...

Skidork - you're treading into very lonely waters. I don't see jazz fusion as making any sort of comeback any time soon.

I saw RTF at the Palladium in NYC in the early 80s. Also saw DiMeola on hos own, plus with de Lucia and McLaughlin. Also saw Weather Report at the Beacon Theater. I was a music geek back then.

One of the best concerts I ever saw in my life was John with the Mahavishnu Orchestra trippin on a hit of really good 4 way window pane. Uh the 70s, psychedelic drugs and great music/concerts.

RTF kicked ass. So did Mahavishnu.

Lonely waters or the road less travelled? Popularity has seldom equalled greatness. The fact that Cliff has no idea what you're talking about bears this out.

Talented as hell but they couldn't buy a hook to save their lives.

Good music to get high and clean the house to on a sunny morning, like the Crusaders.

Sweet. Good to know there are some other fusion heads in here.

I myself, had one of the best ever concert experiences, 1978 Hofstra University, front row center for John McLaughlin with the One Truth Band.

Others: Jean Luc-Ponty 3 times at the Palladium. It was awesome the way the light got diffused by his clear plexiglass violin.

UK at the Palladium (technically not fusion, but one of my faves nonetheless)

    Pat Metheny at Stony Brook.

I'm still a bit of a music geek. I saw RTF, Weather Report, Al DiMeola, McLaughlin, etc, in the late 70s in Philly, mostly at the Tower. Like an idiot I passed on seeing McLaughlin earlier this month, but it turned out I was out of town anyway. We're due for some more good shows to be announced around here - it's been a while.

Saw McLaughlin with Shakti in the late 70s in some funky little round theater on the Penn campus. Eye opening stuff for me at the time. Just saw Jean Luc last winter with Stanley Clarke and Bela Fleck - they did some very cool stuff. All three were playing really well. Metheny - oh yeah. Just saw him a while back with Mehldau on their recent tour. Very impressed with how well those guys played together considering the limited time they have spent together. They are on the same page.

Bands like RTF got me through disco and the early 80s.

Nice also to see Iceman paying respect to The Crusaders. Joe Sample is a master on the keys.

    Anybody remember the Yellowjackets?

loved your miles avatar phish - wish I could afford a nice print of one of the photos from that session. We saw Chick last year and it was a great show.
