Teton TR: Grand Teton, 2/6/07
So after our attempt on the Grand Teton (13,770') last Saturday, both coolstine and I had the monkey on our back. Forecast was calling for rain/mixed later in the week. We figured there was no time like the present so we rallied for it today.
I am happy to say that we skied from the summit in powder conditions. A combination of me dragging ass up the Ford Couloir and rappeling the Stettner with only a single rope meant that we skied mostly refrozen on Teepe Glacier and mostly isothermal snow (with several wet slides) below the Meadows. We bumped into another party of 2 (Neil and Max) around 5am at the base of the Teepe Glacier - turns out we all sort of knew each other from skiing and climbing in the area, so we continued as a foursome. Big props to Max for being a rockstar and putting in more than the lion's share of the bootpack from the Teepe upward (I was a wreck from putting in the booter from the Meadows to Teepe Glacier, while coolstine killed it with his new ski crampons). The camera didn't come out until after we had cleared the Stettner on the ascent. All of us agreed that certain spots on the Stettner provided the worst spindrift we'd ever experienced.

If you're dying to know what the rest of the descent was like, just picture this but with grimmer snow conditions: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=75756
