City slickers paralyzed when the snow hits...PDX
This is from King 5, but have heard it was actually Portland footage...Sorry if this is a repeat. Ice is fun for anyone, but it slamming on the breaks just is not the right way to go...

Nice live entertainment for the locals.
Fighting leads to killing, and killing gets to warring. And that was damn near the death of us all.

I don't understand what the first yahoo was doing. Seems like after the first hit, he just says "F@ck it" and goes for all 4 sides. Whacky. (Wacky?)
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

Yeah, that's definitely Portland. It was on KGW all day yesterday.

that had to be on a hill or something

Yep, seemed to be actually quite steep hill (as far as roads go).
Sometimes it's nice that the law requires you to have winter rated tires on your car during certain months.Originally Posted by RootSkier

For the first time in the last 4 years ODOT required all drivers in the Portland Metro area to have chains or traction tires yesterday.

Also, that street is quite steep, it just appears flat for the same reason ski hills shot from a heli straight overhead do. Perspective.

I think it was over by Mcadam. One of my coworkers works right by where it was shot. I'll ask him next time he comes by my office.

Exclusive KGW video of sliding cars spreads on Web
01:24 PM PST on Wednesday, January 17, 2007
By TERESA BELL, kgw.com Staff
Home video showing a series of cars sliding on snow and crashing near PGE Park in downtown Portland has earned a Beaverton teacher national attention.
From the view out his upper-floor apartment window, Derek Porter captured video of a series of cars sliding out of control on snow and colliding into other moving and parked vehicles Tuesday morning.
He shared his video exclusively with KGW Northwest Newschannel 8, along with kgw.com and it didn't take long for word to spread about the amazing videotape.
"I can't stop watching that video the teacher shot. I've even had people call me and e-mail me from Pittsburgh about it." one excited viewer told kgw.com.
And this fan wasn't alone; the video has spread like wildfire across popular video viewing portlals on the World Wide Web, already surpassing 1 million widespread video views by Wednesday.
FWIW, they didn't put the requirement into effect until after that video was already on KGW.

When I go into multiple uncontrolled spins I just crank up the stereo for that "Quadraphonic" effect!

I still can't get over that first guy. Pretty classic material from the typical suv driver here. He's driving that thing like a powerboat.

holy cow, that's just pure awesomeness, you can clearly hear the first guy gunning the engine a couple of times...just wow.
in all fairness it does appear to be super slick and pretty steep, the minivan with tires obviously not moving sliding sideways down the hill should be a pretty good giveaway.
wow."It is not the result that counts! It is not the result but the spirit! Not what - but how. Not what has been attained - but at what price.

I enjoyed the pedestrian trying to cross the street then sees a plymouth voyager coming at him sideways, lets it pass, then keeps crossing as if it's totally normal.

I went out last night around 9pm after the gapers had all made it home, and I was surprised to find the roads really tacky and nice...of course I was in my 4wd pickup sporting brand new all terrain meats. It was about 29 F at the time, so I don't know what was going on down there in the morning. I heard a rumor that the first little bit fell as rain, so there was a frozen base before the snow actually fell...what else could turn it into a rink like that?

My vote goes to the Subaru driver. He came so close to making it!
