    Tahoe summit out...Telescope peak in

    Details to come!

We are going to attempt, and complete, one of the highest elevation gains in America only exceeded by Rainier, by 300 feet, Mt. Fairweather and Mt. Mckinley..for a total elevation gain of 11,300 feet over 11 miles.

The peak, Telescope, in Death Valley (11,049'). Beginning at the lowest point in the western hemisphere, Badwater at -282'...thats 282' below sea level.

Third full moon this year (2004) that I will be skiing under it! And third full moon trip of the year.

Looks like it's possible to ski from the peak down to about Mahogany Flat, depending on where the snow line is. Base depth at Badwater is pretty low

Here's some other stuff to see while you're down there. PM if you want some beta.

Don't know how much vert we will be able to ski until we call DV today. Last time I was there it looked like you could ski about 1500 vert. We plan on skiing the NF for now but plans will change pending weather and what looks good to ski.

This is what we are after.

Gnarly. Last year Couloir had an article on skiing this peak. Good luck.

    Thumbs up

That's awesome. Very cool idea. If anybody can do it I'm sure it would somebody who runs marathons.
