Did the student let you get up close or did you have to use the zoom lense to get that shot?

    Quite a trip, eh?

Haven't you heard? The students in Galapagos are tame like the other wildlife. You can walk right up and stick the camera in their face and they don't even notice.

I have a lot more photos... some of which do indeed include marine iguanas.

It was a good trip, but not quite as exciting the second time around when you've already been to most of the landing spots. I'd like to go back and do more snorkeling and maybe diving, but otherwise I think I would have to be doing fieldwork.

Wow. The Galapagos are definitely on my list of places to go after seeing your shots. How long were you there/how long did it take you to get all those shots?

GREAT shots, but you had BETTER copyright the pic of the student. don't want them to get "borrowed" for a photo contest...

I was there for a week this time, so I guess it took me a week to get these. There are more coming... I still have to sort through another 6 facebook albums.

It's really not hard to get wildlife photos in the Galapagos, though. Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel.

You should definitely try to make it out there. I'd also recommend a trip to the Amazon while you're in Ecuador... Tiputini Biodiversity Station is one of the (if not THE) most biodiverse places in the world. It's not geared towards tourists at all, but it's more than worth the trouble. I'll post photos from there eventually as well.

What equipment did you use to get the underwater shots?
I want a 6" travel 20lb MTB. I found the 20lb MTB, but only good for riders under 87 pounds.

SD500 with Canon's underwater housing. It's pretty basic, but it's also the cheapest way to get decent underwater pics.

Summit -- which islands are you going to, and what boat are you on?

mavrik -- yea, it's expensive as fuck... if I wasn't getting paid to go I couldn't have done it again.

Also: sorry about the small sizes now... I decided to switch to thumbnails after a month or so to reduce chances of swiping... too much of that going on to leave up the "large" versions without watermarks.

When you come out next month, I want to ask you more about the Canon underwater housing.

Northern Utah was soft today. Looks better than it has in over a month. Bring some of that NY snow with you.
