    Cool TR: The Moment 3.24.06

    Kya, iskibc, SurfTheEarth

    The Moment:

The new day rises up on the horizon as the previous shines in its last moments. The 24-hour cycle never rests, yet there’s always that moment where it seems like night and day collide and everything freezes for a moment or two. The silence in the air mixed with the kaleidoscope of colors from the morning sun make for one of the most surreal settings one could imagine in the mountains. There is so much action going on at this moment, but everything is still and dead silent. The moment also captures the mind and soul. A golden moment of reflection outweighs hours of nonsense, confusion, and systemic bullshit. Simplicity is broken down into its most basic principles. There are many lessons to be learned from nature, but the true professing is done to those who seek out those basic principles and listen.

    The Transition:

    Mornings are magical:

    The Day:

Everything grew still as the early morning light crept across mountain tops and high valleys.

The silence and energy grew as the possibilities for the day opened up like a present on Christmas morning. Taking in the offerings of a new day:

In order to receive the fruites of nature, you need to work for it. This morning we cheated a bit :

Nature rewarded us with a smorgasbord of offerings. 12” of recycled pow on top of a solid snow pack=lot’s of big grins and endless knee deep pow turns on big open faces.

We were treated kindly on this day. Outstanding weather combined with a perfect snow pack, made for a morning you never want to let go. Time ticked by, vertical got tacked on, and open lines got fewer and fewer, but the magic lasted throughout the morning. Each and every lap we found amazing conditions and great turns.

    Taking a break:

    Booo-yeeeaahh!!!

Bad-ass TR, Major stoke! When the knuckledragger finally decides to straightline, is it just me or do the skier's tracks seem to vanish?

I wanna get next to you, like Rolls Royce...

Can't wait until the day when we share a skin track. Until then, keep the stoke coming.

Did you see the cat? They don't have a permit, but some folks are still getting a lift here and there.

The cat is parked at the trailhead. They have been grooming, and it looks like they have been operating to an extent. Lot's of lines being skied in the area. Saw some bold lines coming off Engelman, Woods Creek area, high Butler Gulch, Red Mountain, etc.

Spring chuting season is just around the corner
