Kurt Cobain
Died 30 years ago today (4/5/94). I remember where I was when I heard the news.
I have always thought he'd have made an interesting pivot from grunge. His influences just seemed too deep.

KEXP has been doing a series going through his top 50 list of albums. I was pretty sceptical of it, but it's been strongly good and filled in some interesting gaps. https://www.kexp.org/cobain50/

If I listened to podcasts that is one I would definitely check out.
We lost so much when we lost him."fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy

Definitely remember his death. I’d recently moved from Seattle to San Diego. It was a tough move to make, the PNW seemed like the center of the cultural universe and I somehow had fallen in to the middle of it. First time I saw Nirvana there were 5 bands on the lineup in a small art gallery & they were the first or second band. Chad was the drummer back then. Later on if Kurt was at a party or whatever he was always back in some room with the cool people but that early show he was just milling around with the 50 or so people there. Wish I’d talked to him.
The genX John Lennon. RIP.
